Irregular periods and blighted Ovum
Hi there
I am a 26 years old female, I have always had irregular periods, it was about 1.5 month latter, went to 2 months later and finally 3 month later.
When I was TTC but I failed all the time, I went see the the doctor who on my 3rd appointmeant gave me some pills to regulate my periods on 28-10-2009 (she did a preganancy test which was negtive), that time my last period date was about 17-07-2009. When I have taken those pills of having periods, when I have a pregnancy test on 11-12-2009 it came postive. Then next day I did a an ultrasound and the doctor told me I am about 4 weeks pregnant, she said that your amniotic fluid wasn't enough and that the baby is very small.
Then on the 19th-12-2009 I went to emergency due to sppoting and they told me that the baby was fine (this was on an abdomeinal ultrasound) but they gave me apointment for a virginal ultrasound, the doctor told me the baby is fine but it is not very clear and so he booked an appointment for me after next 2 weeks (5th-12-2009). But on the 29th-12-2009 I went to emergency again, because I saw small tiny bits of white-yellow discarge, same thing happened again.
This time my virginal ultrasound doctor (same doctor as the last one) told me I there is no baby because my yolk sac didn't grow up after my last ultrasound (21-12-2009) and that until that time, (6 weeks of pregancy) He couldn't see the fetus. So he was sure that I have Blighted Ovum, and called it Missed Miscarriage.
Later on, as feel that my doctor is making a mistake, I went to a private doctor and when she did an abdominal ultrasound (she doesn't have the other one), she saw my gestational sac was deformed(it is pressfrom the middle and become longer and narrower), she couldn't see the baby neither could she hear the heartbeat.
But she gave me some tablets to take such as folic tab, turinal Tablet and 1 vitamin and asked me to eat more of proteins such as eggs. She also booked me for another ultrasound after 2 weeks which is due on the 14th-jan-2010.
What do you say?
I want to know what are my chances of having this baby grow? Could that doctor have misdiagonced my Blighted Ovum? As you know my periods were always 3 months late and that when I become pregnant this time, it was 5 months late. Could I be off dates?
P.S I also have Hormons Imbalance, and Ovrian cycts which I think resulted me having PCOS, I also gained a sudden weight of 10kg in short period of time and have bit of hair under my chin.

When we first found out they said my sac didnt look quit right,but thats because it was early once they finally saw a little bean there the sac seemed to develop ok.
try to stay calm for now.it can go either way,doctors are too quick to judge these days.i would say next couple of weeks somthing should develop.pregnancy symptoms come and go.on my son 16 years ago i had nada symptoms this time round i was so ill.it dont mean anything sincere if you dont you may start getting them later on.
smelly discharge could indicate an infection.

your answers gave me hope, i know @ 6 weeks it is too early, my doctor is too hasty and careless. He looked young I guess his never got married or ever tried to have childred with his wife, that's y he doesn't care to throw someone's else child to the bin, once little bit problem is noticed.

i agree..its way too early to see anything and its easy to have your dates off. i would definitely wait...dont do a d&c if one is offered to you as your baby could just be a little bit of a slow starter...a lot of women have misdiagnosed blighted ovums..go to your ultrasound in 2 weeks and i bet everything will be okay...the doctor shouldn't have diagnosed you just yet, its too early to tell. my ultrasound at 5 weeks revealed nothing just a sac.
I dont understand why they even bothered with tummy ultrasounds its way to early for that,of course they wouldnt see alot.vaginal ultrascans should be performed until at least 12 weeks.since your irregular your dates maybe off.at 4-6 weeks even with vaginal ultrasound it maybe so tiny.no heartbeat would be expected yet anyway.give it couple more weeks yet,they thought at 6weeks mine was bighten ovum,im now 33 weeks.keep us updated.
