Menstrual Cycle

I'm almost 20 years of age and I've never had my period, I was just wondering if I can still have kids even if it never comes. I always dreamt about having kids and this is very frightening my boyfriend for 8 years really want to have kids and I really would like to have kids with him sometime soon in the future. He doesn't know about this set back in my life and I'm afraid to tell him that I maybe can't give him the one thing he/we want most in the whole world. So am I still able reproduce with ever having my period????????

A lot of things can cause Amenorrhea, which is the absence of a period. The most common causes are usually problems with the reproductive organs or problems with hormone levels, though it seems your hormone levels are fine as they already checked that. Some medications and birth control can cause you to not have a period as well. A low body weight or obesity can cause your period to cease or never even begin. Excessive exercise can cause this as well. PCOS, thyroid problems, and issues with your pituitary gland can cause Amenorrhea.

I'd make another doctor's appointment to find out what's going on. They should do a thyroid functions test(measuring the TSH hormone in your blood), ovary functions test, and probably another ultra sound or CT scan/MRI scan to see what's going on. If everything came up clear, no problems, then they should schedule you for a scope test, in which they'll send a small camera through your vagina and cervix to look at the inside of your uterus. Hope it all goes well!

You definitely need to see your health care provider for an exam and tests to see why you haven't started menstruating yet.

You can't get pregnant without a period because that would mean you are not ovulating. I suggest you make a doctor's appointment with your Gynecologist to find out what is going on and they can put you on the birth control pill or something else to kick start your period and get that going. Hope it goes well.

Im sure some people here might be able to give you advice from personal experience, but I thihnk you should ask you obgyn. Have they ever tried the pill to start your period or had any test done to see if you make eggs?
