Mirena

I was just wondering if anyone has ever used a Mirena as b/c. I am considering having one put in after I have had my baby. Does it hurt getting in put in? Or has anyone fallen pregnant with it implanted? Any info would be good :)

I had it and it fell out after 7 months. one night me and my hubby were doing our thing and i hurt so bad, bad enough to say pain like birth, and then like 2 days later it was out. bled a lot when i first got it in (no pain), but than my periods nearly stopped. and i can say that i did not get preggo off of it, so it did do its job. I personally would not get it again.

After my first baby I had the Mirena and I loved it. After its removal it took us 6 months to conceive our second baby. My only complaint is that it took a while for my body to adjust back to normal after it was removed (the hormones). Then, after my second was born, I chose the paraguard, and it has been great so far. I got the paraguard because it doesn't have hormones so my body won't have such a difficult time after I have it taken out again.

Ive had it TWICE! 1st time after my daughter, lasted 31/2 years, then removed it to try for my second baby (got pregnant the next month) and now again for 9 months so far...I LOVE IT, no periods, no pain...
I guess im one of the lucky ones!

I suppose I could always try it. The upside is you can always have it removed. I have heard that if you've had kids then it doesn't hurt as much to get it put it. Let me know how yours worked out cos I cant get mine for a while yet...Aly79  what is the paraguard? i havent heard of it. It sounds good though :)

Well for me it didnt hurt to get put in but I had horrible cramping within about 5 minutes afterwards. I got mine on Oct 10th, 2009. So far im not loving it and hope it gets better. I have had constant spotting and cramping along with lower backache and headaches. I still love the idea of it though. Not having to worry about BC for 5 years!! Im hoping things get better for me:-) Good luck with your dission. It works great for some but not so great with others.
