First-testosterone mc prenancy. I have had 3 ultrasounds that diagnosed a blighted ovum and I have been bleeding (moderate to light flow) for 7+ weeks. 3 weeks ago I took
Cytotec which resulted in no cramping, no increase in blood flow, no
clotsBlood clots, nada. My HCG levels continued to increase 2 weeks post
Cytotec and just started to decrease this week. My question is: How long does the average person take to expel the tissue? I have been carrying around a
placentaAnatomy of a normal placenta
Placenta
Placenta abruptio
Placenta previa
Ultrasound, normal placenta - braxton hicks
Ultrasound, normal relaxed placenta for 14 weeks and am getting tired of HCG level checks. Plus I had

Weight-loss surgeries bypass 2+ y.o and, although my H&H have always perfect in the past, I am prone to anemia and am starting to feel tired/run down. My OB has discouraged a D&C, at what point is it appropriate to insist on one? How long should I wait for nature to take it's course?
I am 10 weeks pregnant 2 weeks ago i had an ultrasound which showed only a sac. The Dr said it was possibly a blighted ovum. He did bloodwork and told me to come back in a week. went back and hcg level was at 83000 did anoter ultrasound and he said he saw something. So he sent me to hospital for an ultrasound. They wouldn't tell me anything just to wait till i talk to my dr on monday. u/s tech did scans of blood flow and normal scan. I am at a lost. we have been wanting to get pregnant for a few years and now it happens and we have no idea what is going on.Any help would be appreciated I am going insne with not knowing. I still have all my pregnancy symptoms and my stomach is getting bigger.
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. Things are still a little weird here. First I finally stopped bleeding after 9 weeks.....yipee! My HCG levels dropped from many thousands, to 94, then to 24 (which is when I stopped bleeding) , then to 14, and then this Tuesday it went UP to 18. All labs were drawn a week apart. Very, very odd. My OB is on maternity leave and it seems my care has fallen into the (hopefuly) capable hands of her nurse who is not sure what to make of increasing HCG level. Lab error? Mutant placenta (my personal favorite theory) :0)~ ? I'm getting an ultrasound on Monday and all results will be given to whatever Dr. is covering my OB's patients. Will see what happens

If it helps at all, I can completely relate and am living through this too.... My m/c happened on May 29 and here in late July I am still having weird cycles of what I sometimes think is a period - some really heavy bleeding - and sometime just spotting. Following the really heavy bleeding event (what I thought was my first normal period), I saw the doc and she tested my hemoglobin levels and found I was anemic and immediately had me start taking iron - I have also been having hcg levels on a weekly basis (that's me, the human pincusion). My hcg levels are going down so ridiculously slow - 250 to 147 to 98 to 58 and now a week later is is 41. I am sorry yours went up - I think that would be really hard to take - like someone else on the forum said, I just want this m/c to be over.
So I would definately request an iron level test - the doc says I need to keep on iron for at least another month. Hope your next hcg level shows something definative and the new doc and nurse can help figure this out for you.
Good luck to you. I have found that after my m/c it has been reassuring and comforting knowing how many women out there have gone through a m/c. Know you aren't alone.

What do make of this?
Unfortunately, it sounds familiar. When I went in initially when I was bleeding really heavily when I thought I was having my first period after m/c, the doc asked if it was possible I was pregnant. I said unlikely but possible. She didn't do a urine pregnancy test when I was there, but as an afterthought, she did it after I left and *presto* it showed a positive. She called me back that afternoon, and that's what started the weekly hcg testing. My levels are dropping, but so slowly. I go back in today for another. haven't had an ultrasound since just after the m/c, but with the levels still there and still some spotting I am suspicious that there is still something there.
I wonder how they decide whether to let it pass naturally or whether to do a d&c (or ANOTHER d&c). I have a friend who went in for an u/s at 16 weeks and found that her baby had died. She chose to let the tissue pass naturally [you know it is really hard to choose words when writing about this - do you find this???? I really struggle with this - "tissue", "fetus", "baby", "products or conception", "died", "passed", "not viable"....Sorry for the aside....]. Anyway - she said it took at least three - four months after the initial m/c to be back near normal.
I guess the docs will keep watching your hcg levels. And hopefully yours (and mine too) will be zero pretty soon.
Hang in there and keep me posted :-)
Two days later I miscarried at home, no blood, the fetuses (I saw 2 tails and 2 heads) passed through my viginal and if they had been in my tube then there is no way they could move back up to the whom and out that way, medically that cant happen so a fertility doctor told me the other day. So they were just about to operate on me WOW for no reason because they believe the babies were in my tube. Nine years again, ultrasound showed no baby in the whom, and hey my son is 9 years old, He was oviously a slow mover lol so my friend dont let these Doctors throw you. As long as you feel ok its more than likely you are just fine. good luck
