No Insurance and Pregnant

Ok so I am about 6 weeks pregnant and have no insurance. I applied one week ago for insurance and they told me it could take another 2 weeks for them to even let me know if I was approved. I have a doctor's appointment monday which I will have to cancel being that it is to expensive to pay out of pocket. I don't know what to do. I'm worried that I haven't been to a doctor yet or had any blood drawn or checked my HCG levels. How long does it usually take to get insurance after applying? I live in NJ and make to much on unemployment to get help from the state (according to NJ Family Care). Even though my daughter gets her insurance through them which makes no sense to me being that I am her mother. Is it ok that I may not get to a doctor for a while? I'm nervous and praying that I will hear from the insurance company soon.

Hey hun. I would call back to Family Care. and tell them that you are pregnant. No matter how much money a person makes usually they can still get mdicaid for the unborn baby. which will cover your OB visits. And also the birth and stuff like that. Call and ask for a supervisor.............

I'm from Alabama, so I'm not sure about NJ Family Care.
Medicaid pays for doctor visits..medicines... Etc. I am going to the health department to confirm this pregnancy because it is free for me. I'll choose my doctor from a list they'll give me. To get on Medicaid varies here. Sometimes it takes a week or so... Other times it takes a few weeks. For me the sooner the better. I need insurance. lol

I am taking my prenatals every day. But I always get confused with Medicaid is it like NJ Family Care? I am not working but they still won't give it to me.  Do you mind me asking what state you live in?

It does take a while to get approved. I also have no insurance. I am 5 weeks 3 days pregnant and wont have insurance until DF and I get married in a few months... So the steps I am taking is when I get to the doctor, I will get this pregnancy confirmed... I've confirmed it 16 times at home lol... And run next door to get on Medicaid.

Most doctors won't see you until you are about 7-8 weeks anyway...but take prenatals even if over the counter. I take One A Day Prenatal's. Try to relax and I am sure you'll get approved soon!
