Odds if having a boy or girl

I was curious what other peoples experiences were. Im 6 weeks pregnant and just dying to know the sex already. My boyfriend has a son already, and im thinking I will have a boy too. My boyfriend has 3 brothers no sisters. And my dad had two girls, with different moms. I know that the sperm determines the sex, So im thinking theres a good chance ill have a boy since my bf already had one.

Lol yea it really is....I wonder if any of it is true. My friend got pregnant with a girl, and was stunning gorgeous. But when she had her son Omgosh she looked a mess. Her nose was all across a face. When she had her next girl she was pretty, just looked miserable, but mo where as pretty as with her first girl.

@angel funny I always heard the opposite! (That girls are supposed to "steal your beauty" and boys you have the good skin/hair.) Weird, huh?

A friend of mine just found out she's having a girl- this baby will be the first girl born into her husband's family in 6 generations!! First girl born into the family in almost 150 years! So, even when there is a pattern, either gender is possible!

My great gma use to say if you're having a girl you glow, with pretty skin. If its a boy your nose spreads and gets bigger, and your face breaks out...and your hair tends to fall out.

It really is an odds game! But it is true that sometimes it looks like people follow a pattern because a dad will have all of one sex or even a family will have a ton of one sex. My husbands side of the family is all boys with one girl. Where my dad had all girls and one boy. We have one daughter and are expecting out second daughter in April. I have heard that once you have two of the same sex your odds of having the same sex are 80%, but I don't know how accurate this is.

I believe you. In ours, everybody asks grandma. She has a bizarre sixth sense about these things.

Anybody remember if you had "old wives" type clues at 5-6 weeks that proved to be true? Clear vs. oily skin, food cravings, etc?

@Kelci love it! LOL in that case I hope ours is a boy; poor guy has to put up with me and two female dogs and already claims to be on estrogen overload.

In my family for some odd reason someone dreams about what someone else is having. That's usually how we know, before the Dr determines the sex. Just like now I've dreamed of a girl, and ny cousins girlfriend is having a girl.

I feel like some men produce more male sperm or more female sperm and it's not really 50/50, but more like 60/40. But since your boyfriend only has 1 other child, there aren't enough to show any kind of "pattern". Obviously it can still be either boy or girl though!

Thanks, my parents had 6 kids. Girl boy girl girl boy girl. My Dad had 2 brothers my mom had 3 brothers and 4 sisters so I think it's 50/50. My husband is thinking we're having a boy, but wants a girl.

Just be excited you're having a baby. I didn't find out the sex of my first child until birth. You get what you get. At this early stage your baby doesn't even have genitalia. Be patient. Whatever you end up having will be awesome.

My bf has all brothers also and almost everyone in his family has had boys. I'm 22 weeks & having a boy so that may be a factor!

It's  50/50 chance for having a boy or having a girl. The odds are the same if you were to flip a coin. in this case it is like flipping millions and millions of coins in the air, being able to catch one, and seeing if it is heads or tails. We and my fiance tried figuring up what we was going to have, and came up with a boy and was certain the baby would be a boy, but turns out we are having a girl. It was s shock because we thought we was right. Don't worry, I know it's a long wait until you find out what you are having, but trust me, it's worth the wait :)

It just depends on which of the millions of sperm that win. If it has a Y chromosome it will be a boy and if it has an X chromosome it will be a boy. I hope this helps!
