I just had an extraction done this past Friday. I was having severe tooth pains and could not deal with it any longer. I was 10w4d at the time...had an xray and vry little meds so I felt everything... I'm so happy I had it done early rather than later but it is completely safe
Yes good question .
i was in my 1st trimester and went in for a cleaning .
They told me i had to wait to do any xrays till my 2nd trimester .
So thier was in my 2nd trimester getting an x ray done. lol but you must have to let them no you are pregnant and they will explain everything to you and make you feel totoally comtorble . They said that if it scares you and puts to mutch stress on you then wait till after your pregnancy . Other then that your just fine they wont give you anything to harm you baby . They told me it was BEST TIMING to get everything done in 2nd trimeser
i hope this helped lol!:;))
yeah, they do recommend going to the dentist + I also heard gingivitis is common during some pregnancies too. I've got to get some cavities filled as we speak!
oh, and I'm an x-ray tech. & the amount of radiation you get during x-ray on your mouth is not harmful to your baby - dentists just don't want to do it JUST IN CASE your baby is born, something is "wrong", and they want to avoid getting sued. that small amount of radiation isn't dangerous, but in court.. a lawyer could push it of course.
anywho, go to the dentist girl!! lol & good luck, I hate it too!
Ive been going to the dentist since I started my second trimester, I went to my last appointment yesterday day, but I to i'm hard to numb so they usually had to shot me 3 times and it always hurt like a b I t c h but worth it.
Having dental work done while pregnant is safe. The only thing they don't do for obvious reasons, are xrays.
I had one small xray done at 14 weeks and baby is fine, then I had a temporary filling done at 20. He was going to do a root canal but he realised I need more xrays so I have to wait until this little mr makes an appearance because of the radiation risk etc.
They say you actually should go to the dentist while pregnant.
I have 4 cavities and if my ob gives me the green light, I plan to get them taken care of. I went to the dentist to get a cleaning, thus finding out about the 4 cavities. I know some women who've gotten teeth extracted while pregnant, so I believe it's safe but I would consult your Dr first.
