Pains

Hi I'm around 5-6 weeks pregnant and have been getting small sharp pains in my right side is this normal thanks

I'm not sure how this didn't show up in my folder until now, my apologies!
I hope you have been doing well!  If you were my patient, I would advise you that as you get further along, often the pains change in character.  Usually as long as long as they are not severe and there is  not any bleeding associated, they are probably normal.  It never hurts to call your doctor's office and ask questions though!

Hey weelisa, im olso six weeks pregnant, and sometimes I feel the saim pain you say you have. On the right sight.. yesterday I olso began to fel it on the left side.. I think it's the band's that are stretching up... Tomorrow I have my feast ultrasound, can't wait !

Thanks everyone I think it is stretching this is my second child but there is a 10year gap so it's hard to try an remember back to my first pregnancy. Good luck to u all and congrats x

Probably ligament pain...body stretching to start preparing for baby's growth etc

I'm 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have had the period like cramps and am now experiencing a tightness in my womb area. This worries me silly as im 42 this week and its my first pregnancy. My friends (and books/internet) say this is perfectly normal, its just my uterus preparing for baby. Good luck to you all.

I'm 11wks and have the same pains EVERYDAY but the Dr said it's normal and the organs and linings are stretching and moving out the way and she also said Honey, u ain't feel n.thin yet compare to the real thing lol

I read so many forums about it. my pains started when mu period was due (thats when everythin starts to change). Making room for bubz and its pushing agsint the uteres (spelling bad sorry) walls.

Hey ladies. Im 6wks preg w/ my 1st.and have those same cramping pains. I was told its just my mini me growing,my uterus is stretching! Good luck ladies wishn u all a successful pregnancy!

I'm now in my 14th week and I had experienced the same pains from weeks 4 to 12. I asked my midwife about it and she said to stay hydrated, as dehydration can cause cramping. It can also be caused by the stretching uterus and the shift of your organs getting adjusted to pregnancy. Typically, as long as there is no fever, or blood, or other accompanying symptoms, then you should be fine.

im 10 weeks pregnant now, when i was 5-6 weeks i had pains exactly the same so had a early scan it turned out to be a cyst that the egg came from and is normal as will shrink n should dissapear by 12th week as thats where baby gets its nutrients until placenta is completely formed! hope this helped :-)

Cervix expanding, I also got them when I found out I was pregnant.

Hi. Glad to read your post! I am 5 weeks and getting stomach cramps and lower back pain. Have been since day one of missed period though so am hoping it is normal. I have a 9 year old and cannot remember all these twinges! From what I have read on here it seems pretty common.

Hi :D I've had two pregnancies, both have been in the past year and a half, and I just wanted to say that I think abdominal pains are very normal in early and sometimes late pregnancy. But very common in early days. I had them very frequently during both of my pregnancies in the first term. I hope this makes you feel better.

There are many things right side pains can be especially during pregnancy. Before I got pregnant i had many right side pains due to kidney stones and IBS. Many women can be more susceptible to getting kidney stones when they are pregnant. And although you might not have IBS, pregnancy trends to slow things down in your colon and can make it a little more painful than normal to have bowl movements pass through your colon. I would talk to your doctor and let him know what all you're symptoms are. Don't suffer through pain if you don't have to!
