Please help! Could I be pregnant?

I am on the pill, but started my new pack a day late (Monday instead of Sunday). I had an unusually painful period last month with cramps that doses of 800 mg of Ibuprofin would not help. I used to have severe cramps before I started birth control, but haven't had them as severe since starting the pill (with the exception of last month!) Two days after my period ended (and when I had still to start my new pack), my fiance and I had unprotected sex. Two days later my breasts became incredibly sore and tender and my nipples became extremely sensitive. Over the past week, my areolas have also become darker (almost looking bruised) and puffy. My breasts have a burning, tingling, and cramping/aching sensation even when I do not touch them. I am also getting bouts of mild abdominal cramping and have had waves of nausea after eating breakfast the past three mornings.

How likely is it that I could be pregnant so shortly after my period ended? Is it true that if you have bad cramps that an egg can release early? How likely is it to get pregnant after missing just one day of the pill? Could my breast pain be something else? I know that the chance that I am pregnant is minimal, but I have two weeks until my next period and am feeling very anxious! Any help would, at the very least, ease my nerves. Thanks!

The breast symptoms you describe sound like pregnancy symptoms, but could also accompany a new start on the pill.  I may have missed it if you mentioned how long you have been on them,

The unusually crampy period suggests perhaps a breakthrough ovulation with your last (not this current) cycle.  I would also wonder whether the period was normal as far as duration and amount of flow--if not I would be worried about a conception with THAT cycle. And I would certainly take a pregnancy test--can't hurt!

If your period was normal otherwise, and you started your pills only one day late, chances are slim that you conceived on this cycle, and even if you did, it is unlikely that you would have symptoms so soon.  I never tell anyone NOT to do a pregnancy test though!

As far as the breast tenderness--a good support bra, ibuprofen and vitamin E are some things you can try to alleviate some of that discomfort.

I am kinda in the same spot as you... this is my story:
I am currently on the pill since July 7th. Last month I was not taking the pills the same time everyday. I got my period on 11/19. On the 17th I forgot to take my pill. I saw my boyfriend on the 18th and we had unprotected sex like we always do. When I got home around 1am, I took my pill. I started taking my new pack on the 24th, b/c I had forgotten to take them the Sunday after I got my period. I again had sex with my boyfriend on the 27th and the 30th. I am not due for my period until 12/16 or around there. I started with brownish blood when I wipe on 12/4, nothing like a period. And my bbs have been sore since 12/3. I had spotting until 12/6, it stopped. and now. I had sex on 12/6. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I usually never have break through bleeding.I took a test on 12/7 and I got a BFN. Is it tooo early? Should I just wait till I miss my period or can I test again? please some advice please...

Thanks so much for your response. I am sorry that you are going through the same "am I" or "am I not?" that I am! The fact that you are spotting is important, because, from what I read, it could be implantation bleeding. I would wait and take the test again about four days before your period. I think that is when most of them say they can start to detect. If it is still negative, then wait two days and take it again. If it is still negative, then wait and see if you get your period. I know it's hard to wait! I am wanting to take one now, too, but my period isn't due until around the 22nd and I think it is too early. Plus, even it said negative now, I won't believe it until I get my period! Meh! I think the hardest thing is that my aching breasts, etc. keep reminding me of it and I can't stop thinking/guessing etc.!

I am still hoping that maybe a doctor or some expert will respond to my question, and answer yours, too! Let's wait and see!

hi I'm kinda in the same spot I've been throwing up and feeling sick its on and off not everyday. Being sick and missing your period on the pill means your pregnant. I saw it on a few websites.

You can get sore boobs while on the pill but its just the pill doing that. I've gained alot of weight while on the pill. The other day I couldn't lie on them they hurt.

My period due in like 2 weeks I see if I get my period. I missed 1 pill this month and I take my pills at different times. Sometimes if I feel like I'm going to be sick I take my pill later in the day.

hi The brownish blood is break through bleeding that for missing pills and if you bleed while taking your pills then its just your body getting used to the pill and also if you carry on bleeding for over 2 weeks on and off then you have to go to the doctors and change your pill.

Implantation bleeding doesn't always mean your pregnant. I got it 3 times when i wasen't on the pill and I got it twice while on the pill.

If your missing your pills then that is why you got the bleeding because when you miss a pill your body thinks its your 7 day break. If you want to get preggers then come of the pill.

well only 4 more days till i am suppose to get my period.. this week i have been really bad taking my pills. i am a day late to this day. its been rough. i had sex last night with my boyfriend. i am still having soreness. i got a bad headache today. gas. and noticing some discharge. i dont know whats going on. never like this before my period. i just going to wait till tuesday to see if i get my period. if not i'll buy a test and take one.. still wondering.

Thats nothing truthfully I got that all the time on my other pill. anyway good luck! I wouldn't say you was because you only get two symptoms when on the pill if your preggers like a miss pill and nausea. I've thrown up 3 times in 1 night and nearly other nights as well. been sick to my stomach. I've also gained weight. I have 4 days till my 7 day break. I'm just gona c if my period comes. I've only been on the pill 4 months.

usually I come on my period the 2nd day of my break even if i missed 1-3 pills. People say you don't get more discharge early in pregnancy its usually like months into pregnancy and also gas. Headache is nothing really if you think about it everyone gets them even if there not preggers, Pill can cause headaches.

I threw up 10 hours after my pill so I think that can't be a side effect most people who have a side effect of throwing up usually do it straight after the pill or 3 hours.

I caught a cold yesterday I'm really ill. even worse because 2 weeks ago I threw up and felt sick now and then. not all the time. I nearly threw up again today.

I have my last pill Friday. I'm going to be really shocked if I miss a period. Its exciting as well its Christmas soon.

Some girl got preggers on here and said they were sick and a bit dizzy while she was on the pill then found out she was pregnant. That's the symptoms I'm having.

Its awful having a sick to your stomach thing.

Missing pills cause that spotting I should know I've experienced it on my last pill and most people have. It takes time to get pregnant after you stop taking your pill.

I take my pills at different times as well never got preggers by it. been on the pill for a year.

Its very unlikely your pregnant they are growing pains or you have the wrong bra size on.
If your pregnant your boobs can't get sore till 2 weeks after not 2 days. That is impossible.

I should know this because I did child development for 2 years and I worked in a nursery for 2 years as well. I have experienced stuff as well so I know what I'm on about. I know people who have got preggers on the pill. They only had missed period and nausea.

They didn't have any spotting if you have spotting that your pill thinking its time for your 7 day break. Your messing your cycles up even more so you won't get regular periods after you come of your pill. Me missing a pill is understanding because I was sick.

Just come of the pill but it take a few months to get preggers. Some people get pregnant on the pill but that because they have taken antibiotics while on the pill. Some people say when they come of the pill they get pregnant straight away or 2 months after.
Some get pregnant a year and over after. If I was you take all your pills correctly and when you come of the pill you might get pregnant straight away.

Babies are cute little things but I'm waiting till I have a job. I already do but its just a Christmas job.

I am 25, no children, and first day of last period was 9/20/05. I am currently taking Ovcon 35 and have been on it for a few years. In the past few months I have noticed that my breasts become extremely swollen and tender the last 2 weeks of active pills and for the week of sugar pills. This month I have had spotting twice, am really tired, of course my breasts are very sore, I am achy, and I feel like I am catching a cold. I know the possibilities of getting pregnant on the pill are very slim, but would would be the chances and the signs if I was to get pregnant on the pill?

If you became pregnant while taking the pill (less than 0.1%) you would miss your period and the earliest symptoms of pregnancy are breast tenderness, fatigue, and nausea. Spotting is not a sign of pregnancy. If your last period started on September 20, the earliest you could have conceived (if you were not on the pill) would be on cycle day #14 (October 3). If you did become pregnant at that time, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. However, it is highly unlikely that you will become pregnant if you have not missed any of your pills, even if you have tender breasts. Your symptoms may merely be due to a cold. By the way, there is no danger to the baby even if you do become pregnant on the pill as long as you stop taking the pills after the second trimester.  If you miss your next period, take a pregnancy test.

I am still bleeding, well actually its a little more brownish blood than anything. i still have a funny pain in  my abdomen, not really sure what it is. i have been off the pill for a couple days. actually stopped taking them. i would usually start again on sunday but not sure if i want to. i'm going to see what is going to happen with all this. i will keep you informed. :)

I keep getting little weird pains in my sides. I take my last pill 2moz. Then I'm on my 7 day break. I see if my period comes. I'm still confused about everything. About me being sick.

i am also on the pill and well i have also experienced some nausea and cramps and i have also seen that ever since i started the pill my bowel has become hard and i am constipated.

i am nauscious every morning but not because i am pregnant they say that when you on the pill you might experience some sensations like a pregnant women.

the pill has also made me gain alot and i hate it but what can we do?

i have a one year old son and i am not ready to have another baby now although i would like to have another one.

Maybe see a doctor or go to a clinic.

I started my period I'm happy in a way because I'm so young. I still want a baby but I'm on the pill to stop me getting pregnant. so there's no chance of me getting pregnant on it.
Some people get pregnant on it but its so rare and its like 4 in 100 girls who get pregnant.

I'm just going to wait I have my whole life ahead of me. I have a boyfriend who I've been with for 2 years.

I just wait till I've got a job and can afford to pay rent for a flat. Till I can do that that's when I start having babies. I'm still at college.

I missed 2 pills this month in a row. I'm shocked because I didn't get break through bleeding but did get the cramping before the bleeding. I never got any bleeding. I'm so happy. Yeah hope I still be protected.
