Please help me. i need an educated answer.

my fiance and i had sex about a week ago while i was on my period. at the time i was under the assumption that you cant get pregnant while on your period so we didnt use any protection and he did not pull out. this was about the third day of my period and i continued to have my period for 2 days after. however, i looked up the chances of getting pregnant while on your period and i found it to be possible. my periods were very irregular last month and im not sure how to chart whether or not i was ovulating within that time span around my period....can  you please help me? i just need to know what the chances are of me actually being pregnant at the moment...i do plan on taking a pregnancy test but not for another few weeks to hopefully get a more accurate reading.

i hear they say how many ever days your cycle is you would minus 12 from number of days and that would be the first day you would start ovulating and then add 4 days. so if you were a 28 day cycle like i am you would minus 12 from the 28 so on the 16 between the 20 and giving three days before and after is when id most likely ovulate. i dont know im not a doctor.

Hi!
It is pretty unlikely to conceive while bleeding.  Nothing is impossible when it comes to pregnancy however, and irregular periods makes is more difficult to predict when one is fertile.
Typically ovulation occurs about 14 days after the beginning of the period (not the end).
When periods are irregular, it can mean that ovulation is not occurring.
If you were my patient, I would recommend a pregnancy test in 14 days. If that is negative, I think you can breath easier.
Don't forget about Plan B, the emergency contraceptive too!
Good luck!
