Size of the baby???

Just a quick question for you ladies.... with my last pregnancy (10 years ago) I do remember having another ultrasound to see how big my baby was.....I just turned 36 weeks and there has been no mention of another ultrasound to check size... Do they normally do one? Or do they just do it in the instance that they think you will be having a large baby? I measure right on track I guess for 36 weeks (by the dr measuring my tummy) so there is no concern of an overly large baby but I just remember having an ultrasound done with my daughter and them telling me what her weight was going to be....Do they normally do an ultrasound near the end of your pregnancy?

With my first pregnancy, 14 years ago, i only had one u/s and i had to be about 5 or 6 months and thats when i found out the sex. Unless something is wrong, or they think is wrong they would do one.  With this pregnancy(im 9weeks 2mrw) i have had 3 u/s so far and will b having one 2mrw and my ob appt.

They only did one right at the end just because I was overdue and they wanted to see if the lil guy had enough fluid to last a few more days in there.  Unfortunately, he did....lol.  But other than that there really isn't a need to do any more.

With my first I had one u/s, with my second I had them every two weeks because he has a kidney problem, and this last one I had 3, and then finally got put to weekly ones because of dialation and my spleen.  BUT some insurances don't cover one at the end.  And I think unless there is reason to believe they need to do another one, like baby is breech, or placenta previa, or cervical length they don't do them.  I don't know though!  =)

Thanks ladies.... I guess all dr offices are different..... My doc hasnt said anything yet about another one.... and I had 3 so far... last one being at 20 weeks.... I did have the 4D but of course they wont tell you weight :-) So I guess we will see!!

Myself and my friends that have had babies usually have 3 ultrasounds. One when you find out you are pregnant for an edd. The second is the usual 20 week scan for development, and the third for fetal size about 4 - 6 weeks before birth. I think it all depends on where you are from, your medical coverage, etc.

With my 1st I only had One at 20weeks. I think they normal only do one unless there is something they need to check.....With my 2nd pregnancy I got one every 4weeks intill i was 36weeks! A lot I know!

I don't think they normally do one closer to the end but every doctor is different. With my first I only had one u/s at 20 weeks, with this baby I have had 3 u/s and I am only 18 weeks, I am having 2 more that I know of.
