Hi Ladies! Random Q! ANyone elses toddler have dry itchy skin? Its not bad, but she does seem to scratch at it.....

I put aveeno Sensitive baby cream on her, 2x daily....

BUT i was wondering do you think BABY OIL would work better? I havent tried it yet bc to me the scent seems like it might irritate her even more!

Overall anyone know if baby oil is better then Aveeno Cream? What do you use for bathing your kids?

No she doesnt have any red/dry patches, I know i did as a kid, I just wanted to hault the dryness before it got any worse....

Actually I bought an Aveeno oatmeal body wash for her, and Jergens hydration Lotion with oils in it, This morning I noticed she wasnt scratching AT ALL. And her skin no longer has an "ashy" look to it.... Mission accomplished. THANK YOU =) Well keep up with this routine from now on!

Are you noticing any red/dry looking patches on her?  My 7 yo has bad eczema, she gets REALLY itchy skin all the time...especially in the winter.  We started using Aveeno body wash, she takes baths a few times a month in Aveeno oatmeal bath, plus I use the aveeno eczema lotion and hydrocortisone valerate (prescription)

*I* have severely dry, itchy skin....to the point where I sometimes scratch myself til I bleed.  I've found that the walmart verson of Lubriderm in the maroon colored bottle works GREAT for my skin as long as I remember to use it often.

LOL, I was responding as you were. As a kid, I didn't use body wash at all. Just Dial or mostly used the Johnson's on my body. As an adult, most body washes will iritate my skin, give me a rash or even an infection! I typically use Dial, and I can use the Bath and Body Works brand but I can't use it "down there" or trouble is sure to brew. I can't use any off brands either.

And it's a bit far off for her, but I am super sensitive to feminine products in general. No fancy washes or cleansers for down there and I can only use one kind of product for my periods. If she is a super sensitive person, I would watch for this when she gets older and the time comes.

Oh, and I wanted to add that as a child, my mom ONLY used Johnson and Johnson's baby wash on me because my skin was so sensitive. I used this exclusively until I was about 5 or 6. Now I can use almost any shampoo and conditioner, but not very many body washes and I typically just use Dial for body soap.

Okay, I think its worth it to try a few other brands before setting up an appoitment with the dermatologist... Its not flaky, not red. Just dry and itchy.. Ill have to try the Eucerin. What body wash do you use?

Hmmm....well I have SUPER dry itchy skin myself. Some of it is psoriasis (dry flakes on the skin that build up and can be scratched off) but I do get it in my hair and it doesn't flake there. I use a prescription foam medication that clears it up within days. You would have to see a dermatologist to have that specific medication but a regular dr can diagnose if that's the problem.

Also, my entire life I have had super dry skin. I would lotion 3-4 times daily and still have dry skin at night. My skin is so dry that if I don't lotion within 30 minutes of washing my hands then my skin turns super ashy and it's just gross feeling and itchy.

I use Eucerin lotion (the one with the teal top). It's like $10 a bottle at Wal Mart, but it's not scented and is super thick. If I lotion 2x per day for a week, my dry skin (and the irritating bumps that go with it) disappear. Then I only have to lotion every other day. My dermatologist recomended this. Also, the lotion you are using might irritate her skin. My dermatologist first gave me Aveeno lotion to use (a sample) and nothing has ever burned my skin so badly. I've never had lotion burn my skin, but Aveeno did.

* She used to scratch her head too, once i stopped washing her hair daily, she stopped scratching it also... I wash her hair 2x a wk, sometimes 3 when she gets some stuff in it.... bc the sratching was awful :/

* Im just wondering maybe i should get the aveeno oatmeal body wash as well, less irritating maybe??? OH AND SHE LOOOVEEEESSSss baths. its her absolute FAV thing.

Anyways back to my Q lol.
