Weight Gain During Pregnancy

Anyone willing to share their weight gain history with pregnancy.  I tell ya I have NEVER gained so much weight so fast in my LIFE!  I'm not sure if it's my age which I am 30 and I've never had kids... though I sadly lost a baby almost 7 years ago.  I just don't understand why I've gained as much as I have.  I have not changed my eating habits.  Now, I have thrown in a couple of double cheeseburgers from McDonalds in there but not THAT many.  I'm still pretty active, maybe not as much as I should be but geeezzzz with all the aches that come along with the first trimester I just didn't feel comfortable jogging like I used to before I became pregnant.  I was in such good shape!!

I am 5' 5"  (65 inches)
I started off at 114 lbs (naked)
@ 8 Weeks I weighed in at 123 lbs (clothed in shorts, it was summer)
@ 12 Weeks I weighed in at 126 lbs (with shoes, jeans, shirt...etc..)

Does this sound right?  I feel like such a cry baby... I should be enjoying my new body!!  But all I've read says that you should only gain 3-5 lbs in your first trimester.  OK, I know this is neurotic!!

I gained 50 lbs the first time around because I stopped exercising and I literally ate for 2. I didn't understand that I was supposed to eat like I did before I was pregnant and throw in an extra snack. I ate constantly and in the middle of the night.

Needless to say, when I was pregnant again I gained less than 25 lbs because I ate right and did moderate exercise.

I'm still 60 lbs heavier than before I was pregnant and I cannot seem to lose any of it. It's depressing. You'd think with all the running around I do I'd be a stick! But no...

I think the weight can definitely be genetic but my husband and I both are not that big so it surprised me that we had babies in the 7s but we did with all but 1.  I used to work with this girl that ate like crazy in her pregnancy.  She gained like 60 or 65 pounds but yet her baby was in the 7s.  It's hard to tell but my doctor always starts measuring my stomach once I get a good one going and he is always able to tell how big the baby is.  I have never used a midwife but I'm sure they do that too.  My doctor has always been pretty much right on the money.

Oh, and that Baby Center website is good.  I used it with my last 2 and I of course still get e-mails from them.  Infact, I just got my 4 month and 3 week e-mail from them yesterday from my newest addition!!!

I do think that the way your baby grows is genetic. if you and your hb were all under 7.5pounds I really dont think you are going to have a 9pound baby! or what you are eating wont make the baby bigger. like i said I gained 42pounds and my baby was only 5 13oz, He was as much as hb was when he was born, and I was 6 something

How sweet.  We have small babies in the family too.  The baby's father has 3 other girls and he said this morning that the baby's weight gain is genetic, is this true??  His other 3 weighed in right at 7 1/2 pds a piece.  My sisters midwife, whom I now use, told her that her baby would be 9 lbs because Becky is a diabetic and so they scheduled a C-Section at 38 weeks... he was born 6 lbs 7 ounces.  We were all expecting a big baby but Christopher was soo tiny!

The baby's father says "what ever the baby needs give it to him, if you are hungy EAT, if you are craving something EAT IT".  As long as he's happy I guess I should be too.  It hasn't dampered his sexual desire for me.  He thinks that pregnant women are the most sexiest women.

This what  http://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator gave me as a guideline for weight gain.  WOW!!

Try not to worry.  I have had 5 kids and it's always a little bit different with each one.  I just had my 5th in June.  I gained like 35 pounds and felt huge.  I am only 5'2".  I was so worried she was going to be huge and that worried me a little bit because I have to push that thing out!!!  Ha! Ha!  Anyway, it turned out she was the smallest one I have ever had.  Before her, I had never had a baby under 7 lbs.  She was 6 lbs. 12 oz.

I gained 55 lbs in my pregnancy 25 lbs of that was in the first 3 months.  I looked like I should be rolled down the hallway when I had my daughter, but I lost 45 lbs in the first 3 months postpartum (breastfeeding)  If your weight supports a healthy pregnancy....who cares!  You don't sound like your weight gain is too bad to e!

I gain 42 pounds with my son. I remember going in to the office when I was like 7months and I gain 10pounds in one month!!! How in the world did I gain 10pounds!!??? But Im ok that with that, what ever my baby needs I will give it to him!! I loved that I could eat whatever, whenever I wanted to because I was pregnant!! Now that we are TTC #2 I really dont think I will or want to gain that much this time around!!

I had a friend that gained 80 pounds with her 1st baby!!!

I am 20 weeks today and have gained 2.5 pounds so far. But the doctor said I need to gain more. 12 pounds isn't that much. Some women gain 50 or 60 pounds during their pregnancies!

I hope so.  I am concerned about stretch marks as I've already gotten them on my "love handles" because the weight gain was so fast.  My body is hanging on to evey calorie I eat.  I did work HARD at keeping my weight at 114 - 117 before I became pregnant.  My mom says that it should even out and she gets upset with me for even focusing on it.  I just can't wait to have my belly sticking out in front of me, that will take the focus off of my butt.  =)  Just kidding.

I am 5'3 and started out at 120 lbs. I am now 19w5d and I have gained 14 lbs, which most of was in my first trimester. I was really worried at first too because I was gaining so much but it should start to even out.
