Weight gain!

I've only gained 3 pounds my whole pregnancy, and I'm 24 weeks with a baby girl. My doctor is worried about me not gaining enough, I've been eating more as I was told but I don't think I'm gaining anything. Anything I can eat or drink to help me gain weight quick?!

I only gained 12 lbs tops with my first pregnancy this is my second I'm 22 weeks and I've gained 2 lbs I eat like crazy! Healthy and or whatever I'm craving :) everyone is different and some people just don't have big babies. Ultrasounds can be up to 2 -3 lbs off either way is what my doctor told me anyways I usually measure at least 2 weeks behind but my son was 6 lbs! My opinion means nothing it's whatever you and your doctor decide but a feeding tube seems very extreme. Good luck!

I'll try the carnation things. I'm scared to get the feeding tube because I feel like then I'll be confined to my house or something... But my doctor said it's normal for some people to only gain a few pounds, but because my daughter is measuring behind, and I look unhealthy and I'm underweight, they're worried. So I'm trying everything I can now to gain weight and keep us both healthy.. Because what I was doing before wasn't helping.

Sorry that got a little messed up at the end I meant carnation is second best sup an they sell it at every grocery store and Walmart just ask them  they sell it at every grocery store and Walmart just ask them where it is it's about $10 for a six pack. Carnation is much cheaper but that's bc it doesnt work as well.

I've  had the same problem with my past 2 pregnancies except I just couldn't eat. I wanted to and would try to make myself but I would get sick. I'm only 17 weeks right now and gained 1l. I got my Dr to right a prescription for ensure, than took it to wic. They pay for it for pregnant women that need it. I only gained about 15lbs with my last baby and he was 7"13 so he was more than fine when he was born he was very healthy. That's what matters. They said 3xa day but I drank it more than that. They also give it to cancer patents that need to gain or keep a steady weight. Get the "ensure plus" it has more calories and vitamins so just your baby gets all the good stuff that it needs to grow. You may not gain weight but your baby will so your belly will get bigger your body will probably stay the same.  I guess is second I guess is second best. just ask them where it just ask them where it is. I hope this helps I know it did for me.  yeah it's not that bad but staying in the hospita for weeks on end is really bad you will hate for weeks on end is really bad u will hate it and want to go home.

And if you do end up needing a feeding tube, they really aren't as bad/scary as they seem.

I'm almost 22w and I've only gained 2lbs. My boy is right on track, but I asked my doctor if she was concerned and she said if by my next appointment I still wasn't putting on weight we would talk about it more, which concerns me some. I don't think I've gained any more still. I was a healthy eater before and still am. I wouldn't worry too much mama.  Let your doctor do the worrying for you! They'll take care of you and your girl :)

I have the same issue but I'm 32 weeks and I've only gained 4 pounds. And my little girl has gained 3 of those pounds. So I think it all depends on the person. My doctor isn't too worried about it right now. The best thing for weight gain is to drink the carnation instant breakfasts twice a day. One in the morning, one at night. That will add an extra 500 calories a day and will help with the weight gain. That's pretty much the only way I gained any weight at all

Then see how you are doing over the next week or so...hopefully your baby catches up on her growth :)

My only advice is to try and eat healthy snacks/meals throughout the day (don't force yourself or get uncomfortably full)... Lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean proteins are best.

I lost 10 and now I've gained 3 back. But if you've gained 6 you should be fine..

My daughters growing behind.. That's why they're worried, but she's only a week behind.. And I was only 5 pounds when I was born. So she's gonna be small but they're worried about it for some reason..

I go on half an hour walks every day, and swim sometimes but that's about it. And as far as eating, I was eating only like 2 or 3 times a day, even if I got hungry just because I'm not really used to eating a ton & I had terrible morning sickness so it was hard to eat a lot. Now I eat like 4 - 5 times a day, or whenever I get hungry. But before I ate big meals, now I snack throughout the day.

And how did your doctor say your daughter is growing? On track? Behind?

Wow, I've never heard of needing a feeding tube. I know my doctor said its fine, not to purposely put on extra weight as that will come naturally and faster during the third trimester. How is your regular diet? Do you feel you eat enough as is? Do you exercise?

Okay my doctor was telling me they were gonna start considering a feeding tube if I don't start gaining more because I'm 10 pounds behind..

I'm 24 weeks too and gained only 7 pounds. There is no concern in gaining low amounts at this time as long as you are eating healthy foods :)
