Weed does not have ANYTHING healthy in it. If you have truly done your research you would know that recent studies have shown that it is responsible for bipolar and scitzophenia when used over a long period of time. Weed is also prescribed to cancer patients but that does not make it healthy. Our society tries to condone and make excuses for it so they can continue to feed there habbit. If you want to smoke it while not pregnant then go for it but as far as being pregnant goes I would tell any mother who was expecting and knowing smoking anything that she should be ashamed. Why even take the chance? Is it really worth it. I can't even believe that an expecting mother would try to condone it.
Thanks mslopez12 in was going to say NOONES mentioned the child welfare DCF. In Connecticut. I know random drug testing us done and THEY HAVE TO AND WILL call DCF when a mother tests positive for ANY illegal drugs. It's not worth the health risks but ALSO having the state take your baby as soon as it's born.
Smoke is smoke either way you look at it, this makes me upset and isnt fit to parent if they can not, not be selfish and stop smoking... My opinion and alot of mothers I know agree with me! I would do anything to make sure my baby is a thousand precent healthy and safe an being a pot head is not it!
well if shes smoking now, its not going to have any different effect on the baby if she breastfeeds cause the baby already gets the effects now.
I am ashamed to admit that I smoked weed thru my second pregnancy the whole time. I also smoked cigs. I got super lucky and had a healthy baby girl. She is almost 4 and has never had any health issues to this day. In my opinion the weed was harmless but I think it depends on the person doin it and how much they use a day. In my case I didn't quit because of my depression I just felt like it was the only thing that helped. The cigs r a whole different story and I wish that I wud have quit those.
I live in illinois where weed is still illegal but my doctor knows I smoke and encouraged me to continue if I felt it helped with my extreme nausea and vomiting and it definitely does. I wake up with zero appetite, however I'm so hungry it literally makes me sick. I never smoke more than is necessary to calm my symptoms and I think that's how it should be done. Excessive use seems selfish to me. I'm sure a lot of women disagree with everything I've just said but I can assure you, I would not have made it this far without it. Plus, marijuana is a natural substance, I would much rather use it than risk taking something manufactured.

Im 8 Wks Today And I Was Also A Heavy Weed Smoker.. Went Thru Half An Ounce In A Day..I Smoked Up Until About 6 Wks. Only Reason I Stopped Is Cause It Made Me Feel Weird, And Guilty. Some Pregnant Women May Need To Smoke Weed Just To Deal With It In A Better Manner. I Had A Friend Who Smoked Her Whole Pregnancy. Baby Came Out Extra Healthy And Happy. No Problems Till This Day. It All Just Depends Really. But If Thinking About Breastfeeding, Id Advise to Stop. I Wouldnt Want To Feed My Child Weed Milk. But Then Again Thats Just My Opinion. Every Woman Is Different. And They're Gonna Live Their Life And Raise The Baby The Way They Want To.

Not to condone the behavior but I did have a friend that was a heavy marijuana user during her pregnancies. She got lucky and had 3 healthy children now aged 11, 9 and 7. On the other hand most hospitals these days do automatic drug testing on all mothers admitted in labor, in which finding positive results they must call the states children's division to report it.
My aunt is 6months prego, and she had been smokin weed the hole pregnacy, an.also intaking sec hand smoke from her.bf. When.she went for.her gender scan, she found out she was havin a girl and also.that her baby was growin a cist in her lungs :( so now she is high.risk.an has to geta ultrasound ery week..juss encourage her to stop, for.her.babys health :)
For anyone who is saying it causes negative effects, you haven't done your research. What your cousin needs to do is vaporize it or eat it. Smoking anything is harmful. In states where marijuana is legally medicinal, weed is prescribed to pregnant women by their ob for many reasons. woman who are at risk of not gaining enough weight, morning sicknesses, extreme mood swings, ect. But as i said, they're advised to vaporize it it eat it. There are a lot of nutrients in marijuana that are good for you and your baby

I had a friend who smoked weed her entire two pregnancies. Both of them have asthma and adhd. Can't prove its from that but in my opinion it is. They both already have to use inhalers and when they have a cold its hospital time. She needs to quit its not that hard when there's another life involved.. unless she doesn't care which just makes her a bad mother already in my opinion.
Even if baby appeared to be born healthy ..... They can have problems later in life....
Not a lot we can say on this forums.....but my blood boil when i hear about mothers who smoke drink or take drugs!! Good luck to the baby....he/she is going to need it!!
Hi!
If your cousin was my patient, I would encourage her to continue to cut down on her marijuana use--her son is going to have to experience a very unpleasant withdrawal unless she can continue to reduce her use further.
Also, she will not want to smoke around her newborn/child due to the effects of second hand smoke--contributing to asthma, etc.
As far as breast feeding goes, the current recommendations are similar to those for moms who use tobacco--cut down on use while nursing and don't smoke around the baby. The benefit of breastfeeding may outweigh the risk of exposure in this case.

Good luck!

Also on the breast feeding. considering everything that momma eats drinks or puts in their body goes thru breast milk smoking weed may make baby more tired than normal. Or may not affect. Once again everyones different.
Hello! A friend of mine told me that her doctor told her that smoking weed can make the baby be kinda small but still healthy. Not it all cases of course. I know many women that have many kids that smoked thru their whole pregnancy and their kids are healthy and happy. I stopped smoking ciggs weed and drinking the same day I found out I was pregnant because I'm too scared to take the chance that it will hurt my baby. That's just me though. Lol
