best way to not gain weight during pregnancy?

I'm 23 wks pregnant and gained 19 lbs already.  I was already over weight to begin with.  The doc said I'll be fine if I stay at this weight but not to gain anymore.  What exercise is ok to do?

If you have access to a swimming pool just to walk or swim and eat fruits and veggies rather than fast food. I'm only suggested to gain 15lbs due to being obese

You are NOT eating for two. You only need an extra 300 calories a day. The best advice, do some research and start eating a clean, healthy diet. It's better for you and the baby.

Plus baby will take the nutrients your body has stored so no matter what baby will get what it needs just eat smaller meals throughout the day, you'll be fine.

You can start walking now. During late 2nd trimester to 3rd trimester I was too tired to did any exercise. I felt the most energized during early-mid 2nd trimester. You can also cut back of regular carbs and try to eat more wheat/fiber filled carbs. And limit sugar/sodium intake. But be sure to eat lots of vegetables & fruits so you get the nutrition you need.

Its true if your overweight its best not to gain as much as a smaller woman would gain, it ***** because seriously skinny isnt the only body shape ya know? I am considered very overweight and i havent gained any weight but thats because i walk every day and chase my toddler around, and my doc says he is okay with me not gaining weight, im having twins and im 33weeks and they are both over 4lbs right now and healthy so as long as your baby is growing good your doctor will not mind if you dont gain or lose cause ive lost 20lbs and havent gained any back .

And your doctor is right since you were already over weight you shouldn't gain more than 20-25 lbs they're trying to keep you from being even more over weight which can be bad for you and baby. I'm not suppose to gain more than 25 either.

Walk an hour a day and eat healthier. Yeah idk what stay_strong is saying. Yes you have another person to feed but its notbeating for two and you shouldn't gain more than 30lbs in the average pregnancy. I gained a lot with my first so this one I've been watching myself. I eat healthier and I eat smaller portions and I take walks when I feel up to it. I only drink water or non caffeinated tea juice is the enemy haha too much sugar in it.

Thats insane for a doc to tell u not to gain any weight- esp u entering ur 3rd trimester. Just eat healthy and do light exercises like walking and swimming etc

By your 3rd trimester is when you're going to gain most of the weight. Idk why the doctor said that. But if you don't want to gin excessive weight then you can start by wwalking at least 30 minutes. Try no to eat junk food like mcdonalds, taconell, ect. Try to cook with less salt and eat all your 5 to 6 portion meals. You can do some simple stretches for your legs, feet, arms, and torso. Always ask your doctor and make sure that is safe for you to exercise.
