big babies help!

So had another U/S today (30+3) and baby boy is already 5 lbs!!!! Doctor said that he is measuring at 34 weeks. So now I'm scheduled for a bpp every Tuesday and an nst every Friday! Is this normal due to his size. They also said they won't even consider inducing until I'm 39 weeks. Just because he is big doesn't mean his lungs and vital organs will be mature or stable enough to survive outside of the womb. So why monitor him twice a week for 9.weeks if they aren't going to do anything.

PS. The conception date isn't off they keep going back to the 11 week ultrasound and that one is appt on for growth. Two months ago he was a week ahead of schedule, one month ago he was 2 weeks now a whopping 3 and a half weeks a had of schedule. Ahhhh. FREAKING OUT!

Both of my kids measured very big via U/S and fundal height, one was 8lbs 9.5ozs, one was 8lbs 12ozs, it can be very inaccurate. Your baby isn't going to come out the size of a toddler, it's nothing to stress about. If you're measuring behind your doctor will monitor you, same as if you're measuring ahead. it's nothing to worry about.

I dont know if its any help but sometimes they arnt very accurate so maybe it might be good to keep monitoring the baby, the results may come back different nxt time. Unless u have GD i doubt the baby will be so big that u cant handle it im sure mother nature has it under control!

I can't really relate because I've always been right on for ultrasounds, and fundal measurements have always been small yet they still think my baby will be just over 8 pounds. I had to look at a chart, your baby is definitely in the high 90th percentile for weight- so quite large compared to most. The tests are just to make sure baby is still doing well so it should make you feel more at ease than anything :)

If it makes you feel better, my mom had kids ranging from 6 pounds to almost 10 pounds (which happened to be me!) and said she felt no difference, a baby coming out feels like a baby coming out :P

Babys do have growth spurts while in the womb. Your baby probably had his. My son is growing ahead but only by a week-&im being induced Feb 25 (due date was March 16) ill be 37w3days but he'll be 38w and something days.

Also larger sizing can be down to excessive fluid around baby. I find out Tuesday if I will be induced at 38 weeks. Dont forget babys measurment is a constant change so try not to freak out, at leaat your drs are monitoring you hun, mine arent. Good luck

I was measured at 34 weeks and was measuring 41 weeks but they will not consider I inducing until 38 weeks. But if they do ill need injcriona for his lings so when I do deliver he will be safe. Many people say the measurment system is off and only an estimate so I hope for your sake baby wont be tooo big. On the other hand my dr told me bigger babies are easier to deliver :-) I hope this answer helps you
