You go in there an open mind idk how many times I've seen mothers soooo set in a certain birth plan and something happens and they end up upset and panicking.... if you need the help take it we as women are string but we are not anywhere near perfect and sometimes we think we can handle something till that moment when something changes .....my best advice keep an open mind do not dead set yourself on one way to birth, that certain plan may not work for you when the time comes and if you keep yourself open to all the options you will never have a bad choice in labor

Not strong enough? Mama this is what our bodies are created to do! You are definititly strong enough:) dont stress about it, you'll make it through this. I had the same thought when i had my first but after i had her i looked at that precious face and said i did that! I couldnt believe all the strength and power i had in me:) stay positive hun , you are strong!

Oh and birth is amazing and empowering. It's the hardest thing you'll ever love! Natural birth is my preference but there are tons of wonderful tools to help you have your best birth experience. Even if you end up using every 'help' in the book (induction, epidural, c section, etc) you are still a mama! Pregnancy and birth are amazing, whether it's a natural homebirth or scheduled c section!

After I had my first daughter I never felt stronger even my hubby tells me when I rub his back how much stronger my hands are and I can feel it pumping threw me it's crazy what are body's can do when they have to! U can and will do it! And when it's happening ur going to think u can't like I'm sure some of those women u saw did to and from idk where it just happens! And when it's over and ur have ur baby in ur hands u forget everything that just happened!

Well I was in labor for 7 hours. But pushed for 15 minutes some women take longer for both. There's lots of factors with those.

@op
Some women take forever in the pushing stage because they aren't actually ready to push. Again, with pain meds or certain positions, it's really hard to read your body's natural urges. Even if you're 'complete' (Aka dilated to a ten and thinned all the way), sometimes baby isn't low enough to stimulate the natural urge but if you're being coached on when to push (rather than pushing when you feel you need to) you can be pushing for a very long time!
Other times baby's position just su.cks! My baby was face up, which is harder to deliver because the smallest part of her head wasn't presenting first. (Plus she was a big baby!) I pushed for close to three hours while she slowly eased out. We could see her head practically the entire time!
Occasionally a labor will last long enough that you're simply exhausted (especially if you can't manage to dose off between contractions). In this case, rest is best and I'd encourage pain meds to help you relax and sleep so that you can push effectively!

The key is to relax. Never tense up until you need push. I read a baby book my doctor put together and he couldn't emphasize the fact to relax enough.

What if you cant handle it?? Your a woman you have no choice but to handle it because this is what you were built for. I too watched birth videos on my due date and scared myself but I had no choice but to do it and it was fine and you will be fine too. Good luck.

Your body will naturally do it. I was in tons of pain with my first but as soon as my body was ready to push I knew right away I looked at the doctor and said I'm ready and he was out in 15 minutes. Your body literally tells you what's going to happen and what you're ready for. That's why I would never get an epi because a lot of times you don't even know when to push and have to be told it scares me more knowing that I won't know how to react with my body. You'll do just fine trust me it all comes naturally you just don't realize it until it happens.

This is what you were made to do. We live in a society that tells us we aewnt that string but really we are the strongest ones. If you have that mind set you won't be able to take the pain but know that that's what your body is meant to do and you can do it.

Aw it'll be OK you will be amazed what you are capable of when the time comes to deliver :) remember the pain you will go thru will be totally worth it once your baby is in your arms
