birth control

Anyone else already considering birth control options for after baby is born? I'm only ten weeks but I'm already sure I need long term birth control! My little ones will be less than two years apart and I know I can't handle three little toddlers at a time!
What forms of birth control have you used in the past and what was your experience with them. I'm nursing so I'll need am estrogen free birth control. Any advice?

I was on the injection for 4 years. I gained about 17 lbs but I was severely underweight before starting. I didn't really get any bad side effects apart from my periods pretty much completely stopped. I would get a bleed between 2-6 Times a year. If you don't get a period for more than 6 moths there is a greater risk of osteoporosis. They also don't like you to be on it for long periods of time. My nurse told me once you're over 27 or 28 its a maximum of 2 years. It does take a long time to come out of your system and get pregnant again. If you were wanting another baby in say 2 years I would only get 3 injections as it lasts so long in your muscle tissue.

I was  on the mini pill with this lil one but combined with my IBS it's apparently not very effective! Any way il have to look into the injection or implant but never used either before so very unsure any opinions of either would b welcome

I got 2 depo shots after my son to cover 6 months but bf for over yr no period ever in that time and made more milk than a dairy farm! I dont want the depo shot again though cuz ive read it can be hard to get pregnant for couple yrs after and it was for me but it also coulda been the bfing. I have a friend who was on the shot for 3yrs too and is now battling osteoporosis while preggo may not be able to bf I guess they recommend 2yrs max on it just my contribution

The patches have estrogen. Also they can become loose and fall off before the week is up and then you aren't protected. I was on the mini-pill. Had been for 2 1/2 years. I had just changed my brand and then 5 months later I got pregnant. Took them every day,no tummy bug, no antibiotics, nothing. They just didn't work. After bubs is born I'm going to be breastfeeding and think I will be getting hubby to use condoms for a while. Hope you ladies all find something that works for you

They can't make you choose birth control if you don't want it. I didn't start using birth control until my daughter ed five months old. I just breastfed around the clock.

The patch I'm not sure. The implant, the shot, and the mini pill are your hormonal options while breastfeeding. You also have the non hormonal iud. I think that's the one I'm going with.

The depo also made me bleed for almost 6 months and I only had the shot once! I'm thinking about doing the patch once my little one is here. Is it safe to have while breast feeding? Side affects? I can't take and pills I tried ans every single one made me sick. Any sugesstions?

Are there any birth control methods if you plan to breast feed? But I also want to try for another within the year after I deliver. Should I just wait?

I had the implanon (implant) and still got pregnant on it! Still had just under a year before the three years was up lol
Not sure what to go on after bub myself haha, I like the sound of the patches though, I haven't heard of them before :)

I was on what they call the mini pill after having my first (the estrogen free birth control pill). It's a good option but I'm terrified I'll forget and get pregnant before we're ready. I'm not the most patient person and two is plenty for now.

I didn't bleed at all on the shot @MrsAliciaWeat, but I did gain about sixty pounds the six months I was on it.
@kelleyrenee, does the patch have estrogen? I'm interested but I can't use an estrogen based birth control while nursing. When women say their birth control dried them up it's typically due to the estrogen, so my midwife doesn't ever offer estrogen options to her patients that breastfeed.

Between shots two and three of depo you will likely bleed pretty consistently, but after the third shot periods pretty much disappear altogether. I was on it for 2 years with no real problems.

Well I used the patch and I was fine, no weight gain no weird hormones, had shorter lighter periods.

I had the depo shot and gained a ton of weight. My sis in law had it and bleed for two months straight, she also had an iud dislodge. My other sis in law had the implant and gained twice the weight I did on depo. I'm really not looking to gain weight. I'm still about fifty or sixty pounds over from the depo shot which I've been of for over two years.
I'm thinking non hormonal iud is the way to go, but I'll do tons of research before I decide. Lucky me, I have time. I'm not sure til the middle of October.

I had an iud and had a lot of pain and swelling and bad side effects and with depo I gained a lot of weight. I had implanon the one in the arm and that was by far my favorite!

I was on the depo proved a shot before getting pregnant and I loved it.. I had to get a shot once every 3 months and that was it. My periods also stopped all together (which is normal since the shot puts your overvies to sleep).
I was told not to do the iud because it can fall out of place, and it can also leave scar tissue which can cause infertility. And ive heard a couple stories where the arm band actually grew into their muscles.

I'm going to go back on the patch, I liked it plus my periods weren't long or heavy and they normally are. (Pretty sure I got pregnant from not getting my patches anymore and I guess when you stop using you become more fertile) whoops. But oh well we're still happy!(:
