blood spotting 7 days after ovoulation

Me and my husband are trying to conceive. My last perioud was on the 20th of March 08 and accourding to the ovoulation test , I was ovulating on the 1st of April. I have had light spotting one week after ovoulation and my period due on april 17. I have used a home pregnancy test and it was negative. My question is what could cause this spotting? It is the first time I experience this. Could I still be pregnant although the test result was negative? I had the test 3 days before my excpected period date.

Hello,

Possibly implantation bleeding.  Repeat the pregnancy test in one week.  If negative, try again next cycle.

Best regards,

To Dr. Downing,
As I mentioned above, I had my period even one day earlier than it supposed to be but according to my researches on the internet I still have a hope to be pregnant. I read that spotting after 5 to 10 days of ovoulation could be due to implantation and since it is the first time I experience spotting during my periods I assumed it could be true. My question is: could I still be pregnant even though I'm bleeding? Also, what could cause the spotting?
Thanks for your help in advance

Thanks you for the comments.
I just had my period today and also repeated the pregnancy test and it was negative again.
I'm still wondering why I had that spotting and if it could be harmful in anyway.

wait until your period is actually late then retest, you may be testing too early
