blood type

Okay so my blood type is o-negative , I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and everybody has been telling me that I'm suppose to get a shot twice so that my blood doesn't fight off the babies blood if he has a different type. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Should I call my Dr and ask?

I'm O-. You'll have to get a rhogram shot (I think I'm spelling it right). I got one with my daughter and I have to get one this time as well. I'm 20weeks 3days.

I got one shot in my hip around 10 weeks pregnant at the hospital because I had spotting and now that I'm 20 weeks people keep telling me I need to get another one. I'm just unsure if that true or not my OB/GYN has not yet taken any blood from me to even see it was just the hospital that did it.

I have 0- blood as well.
I had a daughter, and was given the shot around 28wks.
I've also had two miscarriages. With those, as soon as I started to bleed - I had to get the shot so it could 'save' future pregnancies.
This last pregnancy, I started 'spotting' a bit of brown, at around 7/8wks and went to the hospital - he said everything looked fine and never gave me the shot. Said I didn't need it. I carried my son until 17wks, he passed away at 14.5wks though. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. My OB/GYN was kind of pissed they didn't give me that shot though.

I had the shot as well but I am A negative. At 28 weeks they had to give me a shot in the hip. And they stated they will have to do another one after the baby is born.

You get the shot at 28 weeks then after the baby is born if the baby has a different blood type than yours. If you have any vaginal bleeding they do recommend you getting the shot so your body doesn't fight off the babies blood that gets out when spotting.

I am also O-. I don't know where your from but in the UK they will give you an anti D injection at around 29 weeks or around then anyway that goes in your arm. It stings a little but that's it :) they will then test babies blood when he/she is here through their cord so no needles and then if it's different to yours they will give you another injection on a later day to fight off the antibodies :) all simple really:) x
