cats , dogs & babies .

ok , we'll I already have a cat , he's 2 and he's very very obsessive over me , he's the reason I took a pregnancy test in the first place because he was ALL over me, nudging my belly & crying for me all the time . yesterday when my husband came home from work , he told me he bought me a puppy , a blue nose , and he can leave his mother after thanksgiving . now , I've always wanted a puppy , especially before we had a baby , I want my kids to get to grow up with animals . The only thing is , am I taking on too much ? Tuna (my cat) literally needs to sleep on me, comes pee with me , comes IN the shower with me & sits on the perch, wherever I am so is he . & i know he's going to be fighting with the dog for attention , and then they're all going to be fighting for attention when the baby comes . I just don't want anyone to feel less loved when the baby gets here . how the hell do i do that ?

My cat 'Prince' is so possessive over me aswell! He sleeps on my chest every night, follows me around, eats with me sits with me in the shower and toilet and hates when my boyfriend sleeps in my bed. I am a bit worried about when the baby comes along but im hoping he will be as protective of him/her as he is with me. :)

Ive got a german shepherd whos 3 and a lurcher whos 8, i know my lurcher (roo) isnt going to want anything to do with baby until baby can feed her lol roos very food orienated! But i also know she would never let any harm come to the baby. Jake (the shepherd) is still very much a baby himself and will want to play play play which im going to have to watch cos hes huge! I know both will be protective of baby as they have both become more protective of me since being pregnant when my bf is not around!

Ok let's be realistic a cat is a cat yes they are smart but not vindictive a cat will not intentionally suffocate a baby. It has been known to happen but more likely cuz you feed your baby milk and cats are drawn to the scent which is near their mouth/nose. I have had my cat around my daughter since day 1 and he's been fine. He was very concerned about me when I was in labor but never bothered the baby. Dogs will be excited but will follow your lead and can be great friends to a baby if raised with them.

im just happy the dog & cat will have time to mingle a little before the baby get's here . i'm so scared Tuna's gonna go all physco (sp?) on me when the dog comes though . last week I had to lock myself in a closet because he attacked the **** out me & wouldn't stop . he sat out side the door for and HOUR moaning at me .he never goes after my husband either always me . turns out he had a cold , too bad I cant do that when I have a cold, but he's def. a DEVIL & i do NOT need that around a baby .

I had a verrrry obsessive german shepherd puppy, about 1 1/2, and he got SUPER jealous, (and he was always a very loveable dog) and soo mean because he was so jealous, you just have to keep an eye on them, it may get to be a lot for you, but you can always make changes as necessary.

My boy is 4 and my other daughter (who's 3) best friend, I think its lovely dogs and kids growing up together I've always been bought up with them :-). we've yet to put up a crib , but I would like to do it soon so Tuna can get used to being around it. if he acts up when my punkin gets here we'll have to do something , but our god son stayed w| us for a week when he was 2 months & Tuna was the ultimate protector of him , so we'll see , obviously baby comes first .

My cat did that as far as sleeping in the crib...if cats get too jealouse they have been known to suffocate babies so mine went outside before the baby came...sounds bad but wasn't gonna chance it. We even built a screened porch for the cat so I wouldn't feel so bad.

the cat already knows something is up & has been very mean to my husband , won't let him pet him , touch him , he purposely jumps over my husband to get to me on my side of the bed . almost like "you did this , you made me not #1 anymore" i don't know if he really is that smart , but he defiantly hasn't liked my husband much for the past month & a half ...

Don't be surprised if they get jealous. My kitties pooped on any clothes that got left on the floor for about 2 weeks after I brought home my son.
