Thank you for the answer Dr.Elaine, one more question,I just want to ask, my friend's husband is taking high dose of prednisone for kidney problem, they tried before he started the medication,if she is not pregnant by this time, when can they try again after the completion of the medication? Her husband will be taking prednisone for 6 months though. What will be the effect of that to the pregnancy afterwards? Will it be a safe pregnancy?

Hi!
As far as I know, prednisone doesn't have any adverse effects on the sperm count.  So I don't see any reason why they can't continue to go right on trying, unless his doctor has advised otherwise.  Since she will be carrying the pregnancy, the effect of the prednisone that he is taking should be negligible, and as far as I know, no higher risk of birth defects.

Good luck!
