I went at 6w and there was no heartbeat at all...went back a week later...measured 6w6d with a heartbeat rate around 140...that being said there isnt a definitive heart rate for 6w like the previous poster said as i didnt even have a heartbeat at 6w and im now 25w2d...6w is still really early...i honestly wouldnt worry unless the HCG levels are way down as well...at this stage A LOT changes in s couple days...i would keep a positive outlook :)

I'm not familiar with the 6 1/7 wording, I assume you mean 6 weeks 1 day - at this stage while the HB does start out slow 40 BPM is extremely low. On average the HR will speed up by 3 BPM a day, and by roughly week 5 the heart, brain and nervous system has formed and is working. At 6 weeks you would want to see a HR closer to 90-130 or higher.

It normally starts out slower then gets really fast. Heart starts beating at 6 weeks though. I wood wait til next appt tho and go from there. Also a good informative book for her is your pregnancy week by week. I got mine on amazon and its so helpful. God luck to her but I would try and stay calm for now and not worry to much. It doesn't do anyone any g ood and there is nothing you do now that can make the heart beat faster...
