glucose test

I have my glucose test tomorrow and I am super nervous! I LOVE my sweets, and espically being pregnant that's all I crave is sweets! However the receptionist at my OB office gave me my drink and gave me instructions to eat a normal breakfast, drink the drink 30 minutes before my appointment. When I've talked to so e other people they have said eating before you go could potentially make you fail the test. Everyone else I've talked to said I should fast from midnight tonight, drink the drink and go to my appointment. Any suggestions? I would prefer to only do the test once and pass. I ABSOLUTLY hate needles and doing blood work.

Remember that the test is measuring how your body processes sugars. If you are gonna pass you'll pass. If you don't that's why they do the three hour because your body isn't processing sugars the way it needs to.

When I took mine they told me not to eat and I drank the drink at the office and waited an hour.

Ya I finished my drink at 7:59 saw the ob at 8:59 went to the lab did my test, came home took a nap, woke up, ate some food, and have stayed in bed today. I'm way more tired then usual! I was under the impression the test would take a while, it was the same thing they did when they checked my hormone levels for my first Dr. Visit...now I just get to wait up to 2 weeks to find out if I passed or not.

You only have to fast for the 3 hour test because they need a baseline sugar. With the 1 hr you do not need to fast. A high protein breakfast would be your safest beat however complex carbs such as fruit and whole grains are said to be okay too just steer clear of simple sugars (junk food) beforehand.

I had to fast starting at midnight b4, because they wanted me to be completely empty whn I drunk the juice,  if u have food or other drink in your system when you take the test it could really throw it off

I had to fast for my 1 hour test..
i failed by 8 points.
I fasted for my 3 hour test and passed. It's not so bad. My whole pregnancy I ate nothing but sweets.
Even if they told me i didn't have to fast, I still would have.

The 1 hr you can eat I suggest protein. The 3 hr is fasting to what they tell you.
