hcg results

According to my lmp which was 01/19/08, I should be around 9 weeks pregnant.  my hcg levels read 90693.0.  Is that consistant with 9 weeks....the test says that according to that number, I am only 6 weeks along.

% weeks is usually too soon to see anything in the sac. I have heard and read, that sometimes they don't see a heartbeat until after 6/7/8 weeks as long as your numbers are doubling you are good. Don't try to stress to much on that

I was two weeks late, the only thing i noticed was my boobs hurt so bad and I had a weird mild cramping and I knew it wasn't the same as the PMS crampings. So I decided to do a home pregnancy test on a Wednesday morning, it came back positive. So I went in to see my doctor the next day to confirm the pregnancy. The urine test came back negative so my doctor decided to settle the result by doing the blood test. Friday came along and I had started bleeding in the evening. So I thought oh I started my period, okay so the home pregnancy test must've been false. On Monday, I had received a phone call from my doctor saying that the blood test came back positive for pregnancy. I was in shock but confused...I told her about the bleeding situation, she said either go to the hospital or go in for another blood test the next day. I decided I needed a peace of mind ASAP so I went in the hospital. Their service was horrible, I waited for 4 hours and finally was called in the room. My chart went MIA and it took them forever to help me out. So finally they did the ultrasound on my belly and inside my vagina. Then they did another blood test but only to count the levels. So after all of that long waiting, the doctor came in and said oh you're not pregnant, the ultrasound looked fine, I didnt see anything and you're at a 1 for the blood level so you might've had miscarriage or were not pregnant at all, just started your period. Then she left without asking if I had any concerns or questions. It threw me off. I went home upset and confused. I kept thinking...why would I get a positive blood test and my family doctor didnt have the blood level count at that time but the hospital did the blood count and it was at a 1. So I was getting two different stories....I was never sent home with any miscarriage paperwork of what I should do to rest and take care of myself for the next few days or weeks. My mom was not happy about the whole hospital situation. So I called my OB-GYN doctor and told her everything thats been happening. So she decided that I should go in for another blood test and another blood level test. So what she is saying is that if the blood test still came back positive but the level comes back too low then they would have to do further testings to see what's going on and where I stand at for the pregnancy. Indeed the doctor warned me about miscarriage. But I told her that I needed to get the final answer just to have a peace of mind. Because I was getting two different stories and that did not help me rest at all. So I will find out after this weekend what the results are. It's been a long confusing and stressful week for me.

Hello,
the miscarriage started on Saturday night or early Sunday morning with cramping and light spotting. I have been in terrible pain all day.  Cramps and bleeding.  I never knew the acutal miscarriage would feel like this.  I have to go to the dr tomorrow so I will keep you updated.

I am not sure why your numbers aren't going up like they should....you need to have an ultrasound done, and that will tell you whether you have miscarried or if everything is ok.  An untra sound is the best way to know.   I would not let the doctors do anything without having one done.........you never know what God has in store.  :)

If your numbers are still rising, I would certainly wait a little longer.  How far along are you?

Over the past week my HCG levels have been rising but not doubling at the normal rate. We've gone from 300 to 400 but its taken a week. I have some bleeding and last week they said I'd miscarried and my numbers should start to go down. They're still rising. What's going on? Could I have been pregnant with twins and miscarried one? Was I preganant, miscarried and now pregnant again?

I will keep you in my prayers.  I lost my son at 5 1/2 months along 2 1/2 years ago, we went through a lot with him, but God graciously gave us the strength to go on.  Just be patient a little longer, and try to stay possitive.......and if what the Dr.s are saying is true, then your baby will be in the best hands possible!!!

Thank you.  My boyfriend and I are just so tired of all of the bloodwork and we feel like the dr keeps making us wait longer and longer.  The pregnancy wasn't planned, but we are both very excited now.  I go for my next u/s next friday so hopefully we will get some good news.

I found out I was pregnant on Feb. 8th and went to the dr on Feb 11th and they told me I was 4 1/2 - weeks preg..they didn't test my hcg levels at that time.  I then went for my first visit on 3/18/08 and they tested my hcg levels and it was 18075 and when they tested is on 3/20 it was 14431...my dr said it is possible that i will miscarry, but i have not had any bleeding or cramping.  I am scheduled to go back for more bloodwork on friday and monday.  when an vaginal u/s was performed they said the baby size seemed to be 5 1/2 weeks at that time.  that was 4 weeks after my first confirmation of preg....should i be worried that the baby is smaller than what they think?  or they said i could not be as far along ...should i also be worried that my hcg levels are decreasing and not as high?  the dr did see the yolk sac but no heartbeat on 3/18...

My doctor told me every pregnancy has differnet hcg so not all should be the same also told me that some ladys have very low hcg and go on to give birth to a healthy baby
he said its not the hcg level that matters as long as there is a baby with heart beat and baby is growing then thats all that matters

I know i always ask what hcg levels are in my pregnancy and this is what he told me with my last pregnancy as mine was low at first and then started to shoot up and doubling i think your hcg is great and onec you turn a certain week in your pregnancy your hcg stays the same it does not rise any more

If you type in hcg levels in pregnancy on the net i am sure you will see that your hcg levels seem great

big hugs Karen

I had an ultrasound yesterday, and they are having a hard time measuring the baby.....they are sending me for a better ultrasound today because they are thinking I may be carrying twins, but are not sure!  I'm a little worried because I thought with twins the hcg number would be higher.

Hello,

hCG levels are not exact and are not very helpful to assist in pregnancy dating.  There are very few and specific circumstance where the hCG level is used to help gain a sense of pregnancy dating.  The LMP and early ultrasound dating are the best ways to determine gestational age.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Hi Becca, I know that all women are different but if it helps i am 6.3 weeks pregnant and my hcg level came back yesterday at just over 20,000. They told me that was a good # for that far along. I would guess that with your level that your about 7.5 weeks. Have you had a u/s yet?
