Hello,
Ovulation is the time in the menstrual cycle when the ovary releases an egg that can be fertilized by a sperm resulting in what is called an embryo that can then implant in the uterus and develop into a normal pregnancy.
In a woman with a regular menstrual cycle ovulation occurs about mid-cycle.
The likelihood of becoming pregnant after unprotected intercourse is as follows:
3 days before ovulation: 15%
1 or 2 days before ovulation: 30%
Day of ovulation: 12%
1 or 2 days after ovulation: <1%
