induction questions

I was talking to my ob on tuesday, and im over 38 weeks now. My due date is april 29th and im a ftm. He told me that because i have to go out of town may 6th for a court date that im required to be at (and by out of town i mean almost 3 hours away) he said he would induce me may 3rd if i didnt have my little girl by then. Im scared the inductions gunna take too long, and be extremely painful. I dont wanna be in the hospital may 6th because of the court date, its 10 am that day!! Can anyone share their experiences about induction and how long it took, pain scale, how long you were in the hospital after, etc.

Yeah he hasnt even offered to check me to see if im progressing. Havent lost any plug yet. But i do get cramping, almost like mild period cramps in my lower belly that come or go, and twinges in my cervix. I feel movement pretty low now but my belly feels fairy high. Last appt the doctor basically had to put the ultrasound machine right on my pubic bone to see her head, but he wont check me, hook me up to a monitor to see if i was contracting, nothing. :(

I had to be induced after my water broke because I wasnt progressing on my own and had my daughter 12 hours later.

Yea might be tmi but I'm not to fond of the sex I do it for my hubby, but I think its kinda wrong do your doctor not to check.. I started getting checked at 36wks. I'd tell him I'm losing plug and maybe then he would check? I'm sorry some doctors suck. What kind of symptoms are you having, maybe I can help. I know every pregnancy is different but your due 1 day after me so I know how u feel lol I've been having irregular contractions and cramping but don't wanna go to the hospital

I'm due the 28th :) best advice I can try and give you is to walk a lot and have sex. Im 2-3cm dilated and 50% effaced just from those too alone. When I see doc on Monday she wants to talk about being induced too. With my 1st I was induced and it took me 18hrs of labor to have her, I can't say it was painful cuz I had an epidural and I had stayed in the hospital for 2 days but were I live its normal to stay 2 days after having the baby. Good luck hun :)

Im getting induced monday.  My doctor said I come in at 10 pm. I have to drink a drink three times that helps soften my cervix.  In the morning they break my water and they start pictocin iv that gets contractions going and when its time they give me epidural and I push when the contractions are where there supposed to be. But yesterday when I agreed to getting induced my doctor did a membrane sweep I had my bloody show and this morning I lost my mucas plug. Usually when inducution comes up your doctor should do this to see if it will naturally help your body get things going so id ask him if he will do one.

The reason he wants me to be induced before then is so i dont go into active labour when im 3 hours away. He would rather her be here instead of risking that, because you never know, i could dilate extremly fast and end up having her in a car hahaha. But unfortunately i have to be at this court date, if i miss it a warrant goes out for an arrest so its a tricky situation :(

Personally I wouldnt wanna leave my newborn for any amount of time when she's that young. Since you probably shouldn't tale the baby for a six hour car ride and then into court. If I were you I would just remain pregnant. And every Hour get out of the car and stretch for a few minutes.

Induction typically takes about 24hrs but everyone is different it could take a lot less time then that. I don't think you would still be in the hospital on the 6th unless something goes wrong.

If the induction hasn't sent you into labor within 24 hours or a bit more than they will decide to do a c section. They cannot let you be in labor for 3 days.. I got induced and it wasn't bad at all it worked very well for me. I mean its labor so the pain scale is probably at a 10. Labor is painful regardless. Good luck and congrats.
