Hello,
Sounds like you should have an evaluation for secondary amenorrhea. In your case the things I'd want to know are what is your TSH level (thyroid hormone) and Prolactin level, two hormones that when abnormal can lead to absent menses.
Given your history, I'd be concerned about intra-uterine adhesions, or Asherman's syndrome. This can be evaluated by hysteroscopy (looking inside the uterus with a small camera) or hysterosalpingogram (injecting dye inside the uterus and observing its fill with fluoroscopy.
There are other possible considerations, but those would be the most common. I suggest you seek a second opinion or get referred to an ob/gyn.
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
A related discussion,
after a d&C was started.
Thanks so much. Been back to see my GP having blood test on Wed for hormone levels and have been to referred to a gyno. Having to using my private health care but at least i'll get seen pretty quick. Just hoping i don't have the Asherman's Syndrome though !!Sam 1612
p.s. like sam1612, I have been feeling bloated and crampy, like my period will be starting any day now, but it doesnt! My cramps are not as severe as she described, however.
I miscarried at 6 weeks in Oct 07 and have only had one period since (in Nov). I have taken 3 hpt, all negative, and have been using protection during intercourse. I just recently had my hormones tested, (fsh, lh, glucose, prolactin, etc) and had a pelvic ultrasound...all of which came back negative/normal. I am wondering, should I be concerned about this. My gyno does not seem to be. And if we start trying to conceive now, am I putting myself at risk for another miscarriage or hemorrhaging if I do get pregnant??
