miscarriageor 1st tri cramping

went to doc on Friday because I had a bowel movement & there was a streak of brite red blood. I believe I cojnceieved on Feb 14th but the doc is going off my last period which was Jan 12th.I keep stressing that I took a test on Feb 10th & it came back neg. anyway, the doc did an internal, saw no blood in the vagina, said my chart looked good & sent me over to have a vaginal ultrasound. the tech said she saw what appeared to be the sac in the uterus & I looked to be about 6 weeks. I went back to the doc & she said I was miscarrying & that they saw no heartbeat. I explained to her what the tech said. She told me she never should of said that. I asked her if you can see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. She said yes.I do not believe that I am 6 weeks yet but they are not hearing that. Am I crazy. I am going to call the doc on Monday as only bled one more time & that was when I had a bowel movement. When I pee i see a very scant if not at all a brown discharge. I am cramping however. Please help I am losing my mind right now not knowing.

Thankssomuch.I am going for a second US on Friday. I was a little mifed that they did not offer another. I had to call yesterday to beg them for one. The doctor was very nice about it but not very optimistic.I still wonder how far along I would be if I conceived on Feb 14th as my periods are sometimes on the 12th of the month & sometimes later.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
When my own patients are in a similar situation, I sometimes offer them the option of doing a blood pregnancy test (quantitative hcg) followed 48 hours later by a second one.
Depending upon how high the level is on the first one, having the second test can be quite helpful in determining what is going on with the pregnancy.  If the level increases by at least 60%, it can be a good sign that the pregnancy is continuing to develop.  If the value drops, that often indicates that a miscarriage is impending.

Another thing that I will often do, is to wait a week and re-scan.  Just because sometimes there is a discrepancy in the dates such as what you are describing here.  I almost never do a D&C without doing one or the other or both of the above as a double check.  This is an area in which I never want to make a medical error!
Good luck!
