no yolk sac at 5 wks 4 days

I had an u/s this past Tues and there was a pregnancy but no yolk sac present.  My hcg level was 10,000 which went up appropraitely from the previous test.  Dr said my cervix was closed and uterus was soft as a pregnant uterus should be.  I just had a miscarriage in July due to abnormal chromosonmes.  I am so nervous.  I bled Mon night one time.  Then I bled on Wed one time.  A little clotting too.  Dr said this could be just normal spotting.  I go back on Tues for a repeat u/s and am just so nervous.  He did say sometimes the sac is hard to see if it is behind the placenta.  I also know I have a retroverted utuerus- if that matters- basically it is upside down.  Just want to kow if anyone has had similar experiences of not seeing and then seeing at 5+ wks.  Today I am 6 weeks and 1 day and hoping and praying to god that all is ok and when I go back on Tues (which seems so far away) that they will see the sac!!  Any advice/comments are welcome.

Hi! Ihave been reading everyones entries and ALL of yall are very strong women. I had my LMP 9/11/07 and went to the Dr. on 10/4/07 the PT was neg. got new BC perscription and DR found a mass, got an U/S. The tech found three masses, in may 2007i was diagnosed with fibroid, the tech assumed it was more fibroids. Two of the masses were similar in shape and small but one was larger and just like the original fibroid found in May 2007.  well on 10/12/07 period no show so i took an HPT and positive. At first my BF was sick and tired, two weeks ago i flipped, I have the worst headache, also feel like i am going to pass out and i eat alot during the day. The internet calculator says i am about 8-9 wks.  I am stressed, I already have three girls at home.....what if it is twins?? How will i do it? I am so ready to put the BF out now, he makes me CRAZY!!! I feel like i can't get anything done because I am so tired, cold, headache, itchy. On 10/17 my hcg level was 4900 and on 10/19 it was 7908, does this mean twins or high numbers for one. My next visit is on 11-15-07. I am so scred and stressed. Has anyone been so stressed out and how to fix all of my symptoms.

I'm having the same trouble as many of you. Yesterday, when I thought I was 6w2d, I had a vaginal ultrasound because I was having just a tiny bit of spotting. Now, I wish I hadn't ever called. The tech saw only the gestational sac on the ultrasound - no yolk sac, no baby. The gestational sac measured just around 6 weeks. The nurse practitioner said it might be because I'm earlier than I thought, but I'm 100% sure of the date of my LMP. She ordered an HCG test. I just got back the first results today - 12,340. She said that indicated that I was closer to 5 weeks than 6. It seems impossible that my dates could be that far off - especially since the gestational sac measured "correctly." I'm absolutely at my wits' end. I'm a wreck. I have another HCG test tomorrow to see if the levels are rising, and then an ultrasound in a week. I can't imagine how I'm going to wait for a week to find out if this pregnancy is viable.

Well----  I am exactly 9 weeks today!!!!  I was at the dr yesterday (I was nervous because I was crampy & have sciatica pain)---- saw my little munchkin--- heart beating away... I love seeing that.  Had sono last week too.  I have been having weekly sono's becasue I am high risk.  I get so nervous if I have to go a week w/o seeing the Dr.  Next week- on Wed I have an afternoon appt w/ the High Risk Dr then an evening appt with reg ob-...LOL...  Hope everyone else is doing well...

Usually ectopic comes with other symptoms as well. Do you have any brownish staining? Also the cramping for ectopic is usually on one side, not both. Did they take any blood work to check your HCG levels?

I had my lmp on 8/15 and I went to the doc on 10/8 and they gave me a p/t. It came out positive but when i went in for a sonagram 10/9 they said they didn't see anything! not even a sac... I have been having cramps and I am scared. This is my first pregnancy. Could this be ectopic?

some women just have high hcg levels. it can very from person to person. it is curious that they are not doubling. you have to just wait till tuesday to find out. if they saw a sac already, then everything should be fine. i wouldn't worry too much.  congrats, and i wish you luck.let us know on tuesday.

I had my LMP on 8/28/07 it was only 4 days. I took a home pregnancy test on 9/28 and it was positive. Went to Dr. on 10/15/07 only saw a gestational sac on U/S. So I had my HCG levels checked, on 10/15 they were 20,000 and Wed 10/17 exactly 48 hours later they were 26,000. The Dr. said he was confused b/c he mentioned a blighted ovum at the time of the U/S or said my dates were off, but when I spoke to him on Wed, he said he was confused b/c my HCG levels were so high but not doubling, but still rising, so he said come back for U/S on Tues 10/23. I have nasuea and I am really tired, but no cramping or spotting. What should I think about all of this? This is my 1st pregnancy. I have great hope there will be fetus on Tuesday. Does anyone have any insight on the high HCG levels? Thank you. Katie

Yeah I was hoping maybe they were wrong but m/c run really high in my family. my aunt had 16+ miscarriages and has 4 kids, she wanted kids so bad. but i was really hoping that it was still here but today i started bleeding thick tissue, so i know there is nothing I can do. I am going to let nature take its course. I am not doing a D&C unless medically ness. I dont believe in that. (or to me it seems too much like an abortion). Agian thank you for your thoughts in writing me, I kept my pregnancy quick so I dont have many people to talk to.

I had my u/s today, we only saw a sac that measured 5 wks which was what they expected to see. Until I see a heartbeat I'm still nervous, but they all told me before they even did the u/s that this was all they were expecting to see. I go back for another next Thursday, it just seems like such a long time to wait.

I am so sorry to hear. I don't want to give you false hope but my mother-in-law told me that they told her that about one of her pregnancies & they were ready to do a D&C, she told them she wanted to wait another week, that baby ended up getting a heartbeat & my sister-in-law is now a healthy 20 year old.  Isn't it possilbe that you're just not as far along as they thought?

I am so sorry! I don't really know what to say, but I will tell you that my first miscarriage they thought I had an ectopic, I ended up with lapricopic surgery to remove it before it ruptured but what they thought was ectopic on the u/s was really just a cyst. My dr. at that time did tell me, when he was going through the risks of what may happen if the ectopic ruptures, that even if you lose one fallopian tube your chances of getting pregnant again are almost the same as before. Good luck and make sure you let your body rest up before trying again, your body I'm sure is in shock. My thoughts are with you & you'll be in my prayers.

I am so sorry!!  What a horrible thing to have to go through.  I had a m/c in July and I know the emoitions that come with it.  I am not going to sugar coat it-  it is horrible.  Plays games with your mind.  My significant other and I actually broke up shortly after my m/c.  Got back together for a short time and broke up again.  Needless to say I am going through this preg. by myself.  Makes theemotions even crazier.  You will be in my thoughts!!  Stay well!!!!  Let's keep our fingers crossed that your next preg. will be healthy and succefful.... I pray for this for myself every single night....  I can't handle another m/c.

I am very sorry about your loss dej69. I as well have bad news. I went in today for the ultrasound and the baby is developing, my body is doing what it should but the baby isnt doing any better (the lack of baby since its pretty much just a yok). well, my news is bad. i was supposed to be going in last monday for an u/s to see if we could find the sac. but sunday morning had to go to the ER for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. i felt like i had the flu at first, just diahrea and vomiting, then my husband called 911 when i was passing out and had a couple seizures. when i got to the hospital, my stomach was full of blood, they couldn't find a blood pressure, or any veins for an iv. they had to remove my left falopian tube completely. very scary. the worst day of my entire life. if anyone hasn't been feeling well, has a stomach ache, or passes out, please go in right away. any longer, and i would have died.
i am so depressed about losing the baby, but still have one good tube and remain optimistic. we will keep trying. i just hope no one has to go through the same thing i did, and hope you all have happy healthy babies. FYI, the dr told me the signs to watch for as far as ectopic go, was pain in one side or the other.  i had no pain in one side. i didn't feel pain untill i was full of blood, and then the pain was all over. so watch for sickness, dizzy spells, passing out, etc.

Well, I have great news!!!  Just came from the doctor and we have a heartbeat!!!!  She said "Congratulations you are VERY pregnant."  I told her I feel like ****.... she told me that is great..lol..  I am so tierd, achy, headache... she said all good signs.  Gave me some iron pills to try to pep me up a bit, tested me for anemia.  Did the whole pregnancy bloodwork  :-)  Tomorrow I go see thehigh risk doctor.  I am just so excited!!!!

No they are just concerned this may happen agian. Well I had blood work today and it was like 1,300 or 13,000 I dont remember and I have it agian wed to see if it goes up or down. They really dont know what else to do i guess? i just feel so in the dark b/c i dont know all of this stuff lol

I know how you feel, I had 3 in a row in the course of 6 months. Did they tell you they thought it was a miss? If you had blood work today, call your drs office tomorrow and ask for the results. Have you ever had a quantative hcg level done before in this pregnancy?

I had blood work today and I go back on wednesday for more to see if my HCG level went up or down, I guess the doctors treat it like a miscarriage and tell me to just wait it out, and its really hard.
