Follitism is when you take shots (gonal-f for me) and have ultrasounds done about every 3 days to produce mature follicles that can release a mature egg. I don't know anything about a GI diet but cutting out a lot of carbs and calories combined with some kind of exercise at least 3-4 times a week. I don't know how much you can lose combined with the metformin but a healthy diet you should lose 4 to 6 kg (2-3 pounds) a week. Sometimes women with PCOS have a terrible time losing weight especially in the beginning. Don't get discouraged and take your time (I know it is hard especially when you are trying to lose weight to have a baby) and it took me over 2 years to get pregnant again. Please let me know if you need anything =)

I have PCOS also and had extremely irregular periods (didn't even have but one period in a whole 2 years) and the only way that I can control mine is through diet and weight loss... I have to be between 130-140 pounds and I am 5'8" my fertility doctor said that it is so unfair that it happens that way but for some women that is the way it is. (It is terrible and unfair but we have to live with what we are dealt =( )) I didn't take metformin but I have read a ton of good reviews and how it helps so many women with our problems. I had to go straight to follitism and timed intercourse. I ended up getting pregnant with this baby after having orthopedic surgery and lost about 20 pounds. I think that a diet and exercise could do you a ton of good. It is hard but it is so worth it =) Please let me know if you need anything!
