Hi!
Usually patients are instructed to start their pills during or immediately after their menstrual period, so sounds like something went awry somewhere. Most likely the bleeding is a result of taking the pill at midcycle.
It would certainly be a good idea to take a pregnancy test--its is ALWAYS a good idea to do that! If that is negative you should stick with the pills, if positive, you should stop them immediately. It would also be important to rule out a
tubalEctopic pregnancy

Tubal ligation
Tubal ligation - series pregnancy too!
Whatever the case, I would definitely ask my patient to call and talk to me so we could sort out what to do--so give the person who prescribed the birth
