I had to do this! Im o negative while my husband is o positive. All it is is you take 2 shots. One at 28 weeks, another after the boy is born. It stops your bodies antibodies from attacking the baby when it realizes that blood shouldn't be in your system. And the shot after the baby is to restart them so to say. I had this problem with my first and he is perfectly okay. Im going to get the shot myself in 10 weeks.

When you go for your first antenatal the hospital will give you all the information you need to know about being rh negative

Why would your first pregnancy be any different then your others? My first baby came out o+ and I have o- so the shot could have saved her. That makes no sense that it doesn't matter with the first pregnancy. I think you should ask your doctor again. I'm definitely gonna ask mine

I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy because I was Rh negative. So it does effect your first pregnancy.

I'm a negative and just had my first anti d shot at 28 weeks (last week) I've got to have another at 34 weeks and if bubba's blood doesn't match mine they will give me a third shot up to 72 hours after birth, this is my first pregnancy and when my doctor told me I would have to have these it scared the **** out of me, I'm only 18 turn 19 6 weeks after my due date in December

I don't think that's true that it doesn't effect you first pregnancy bc my doc gave the shot with my first pregnancy and made me carry a card that said I got the shot to the hospital when I go into labor it seemed pretty important that I got it.

Im A- and my husband is o- so I have never had to get the rhogam shots with any of my 3  pregnancies. But as long as you get the shot there's no need to worry

It does not affect ur 1st pregnancy at all and just bc ur are rh- does not mean ur baby has a different blood type.... they give u a shot around 28 weeks just incase ur baby has a different type but if it don't then u don't have to take a 2nd shot after delivery but make sure if for some reason u have any spotting and have to go to er u tell them u r rh- bc anytime u spot u have to jhave the shot also just incase I'm rh - and this is my 3rd baby with my 2nd I had to have 5 shots bc I kept bleeding and when ur bleeding there is a chance ur blood can mix with babys blood but its not really anything to worry about I promise like I said before it has competely no affects on ur 1st baby but it can with any future babies if u don't get the shots

Trust that your doctor's will take good care of you! Many women have this and they have successful pregnancies with no complications caused by you being rh negative. Don't worry stress is worse than anything! :)

You have a blood type different from your baby. Due to this, there is a small chance your body could send signals to your uterus that your baby is a foreign object that needs to be expelled. Your doctor's will give you a shot to solve this problem and you and the baby will be fine.
