Hello Doctor,
She has been tested for hcg by blood test yesterday and the result came out today : negative.
How conclusive can this be according to you ?
Would you retest let's say around the 15th or would a visit to a gynecologist help to accertain the test results ?
In a nutshell, what and when actions should we take to make sure she is -or not- pregnant ?
Many thanks in advance !!!
Hi!
Sorry for the delay in the answer, your question got tucked under some that had already been answered, and I didn't notice it until today. Apologies!
I can't tell from your question whether or not you want to be pregnant! But here is what I can tell you:
If your girlfriend has a typical 4-5 day period, that would put cycle day one at (approx)May 16.
If she has a typical 28 day cycle, that would put ovulation at (approx) May 30 and implantation at (approx) June 9. A blood (or very accurate urine ) pregnancy test would then be positive around that same time or any time thereafter. If pregnancy has ocurred.
Most medical facilities can do a qualitative beta hcg blood test, or urine test. To improve the odds that the test is accurate, it might be best to wait until the period is late--or June 15 or so.
One important detail that I feel I must mention--pre-ejaculate contains sperm, and can result in pregnancy despite withdrawal before actual ejaculation. SO if you DON'T want to be pregnant, you might consider using some type of protection.
I don't know how available Plan B ( emergency contraception) is in your part of the third world, but that might be another option.
Hope this helps!
