risk of pregnancy ?

Hello Doctor,

here is our situation :
my girlfriend finished her period +/- on 21st/22nd May.
we have had unprotected sex from 22nd till today without real ejaculation inside the vagina as far as I know.
today whilst having sex, she felt some accute pain in the vicinity of her left ovary that lasted around 30 min.

We thought about pregnancy although not really relating probably to the pain felt.
Here are a few questions on which we really need your help.

1/ Between the 22nd and today she "left" once some kind of sticky white fluid on my penis. And for sure that was not sperm. What could this be and does it relate to pregnancy ? We both recently got tested for the whole set of STD's with negative results - except for her on IGG Chlam that she once had in the past -.
2/ It could be that some pre-seminal fluid penetrated her vagina during our intercourses. I can be as sure as one can be that I did not ejaculated inside her but how "fertile" is that fluid - sorry to ask basic questions - ?
3/ We live and work as expats in a third world country, hence the medical facilities are not those of the Western world, what kind of testing could she do and as from what - minimum time - to see whether pregnant or not ?

We are both quite eager to find out A-S-A-P for multiple private reasons.

Could you please give us your assessment ?

Many thanks !

Hello Doctor,

She has been tested for hcg by blood test yesterday and the result came out today : negative.
How conclusive can this be according to you ?
Would you retest let's say around the 15th or would a visit to a gynecologist help to accertain the test results ?
In a nutshell, what and when actions should we take to make sure she is -or not- pregnant ?

Many thanks in advance !!!

Hi!
Sorry for the delay in the answer, your question got tucked under some that had already been answered, and I didn't notice it until today.  Apologies!

I can't tell from your question whether or not you want to be pregnant!  But here is what I can tell you:

If your girlfriend has a typical 4-5 day period, that would put cycle day one at (approx)May 16.
If she has a typical 28 day cycle, that would put ovulation at (approx) May 30 and implantation at (approx) June 9.  A blood (or very accurate urine ) pregnancy test would then be positive around that same time or any time thereafter. If pregnancy has ocurred.

Most medical facilities can do a qualitative beta hcg blood test, or urine test.  To improve the odds that the test is accurate, it might be best to wait until the period is late--or June 15 or so.

One important detail that I feel I must mention--pre-ejaculate contains sperm, and can result in pregnancy despite withdrawal before actual ejaculation.  SO if you DON'T want to be pregnant, you might consider using some type of protection.

I don't know how available Plan B ( emergency contraception) is in your part of the third world, but that might be another option.

Hope this helps!
