sore breast

Hi, I am a 31 year old female. I started my period on the 28th day of my cycle, which really only lasted 1 day on sun 1/20/08. My breast are very tender still. I took a preg test this morning and the results were negative. Could there be another medical reason for this or could I really be pregnant?   My first two test were negative when I was pregnant with my son 11 years ago.

Hello,

Repeat the pregnancy test in one week.  If you are not pregnant and your breasts remain tender see how they feel in a few weeks and if worsening go see a physician.

Realistically you can go without a period or have a short period if your stressed or sick have an infection etc but you may possibly be pregnant too. If pregnant the bleeding you had could have been implantation bleeding, which is when the fertilized egg attaches to the womb lining and starts to produce preg hormone which all only happens i believe round about when a period is due for those with regular 28day cycles. The only thing is you are 9 days past your period day so should be getting some kind of positive results by now. Every 48hrs the pregnancy hormone should double in a healthy pregnancy ao keep check.
