weight gain in pregnancy

What is the average amount of healthy weight gain during a pregnancy? How much is common to gain in the last trimester?
I know it varies significantly and that ever woman and every pregnancy is different I just want to know an average amount.

I have a book that has a BMI (Body Mass honestly hart and it tells you how much to gain based on your BMI. Maybe look up a chart online.. but it says
BMI Less than 18.5 gain 30-40 pounds
BMI 18.5-24.9 gain 25-35 pounds
BMI 25-29.9 gain 15-25 pounds
BMI More than 30 gain 11-20 pounds
And honsstly its not bad to put on extra weight it will just take you a little longer to lose that weight after the baby arrives and you'll be so worried about your baby you won't notice how much you weigh!

I gained 25 with my first pregnancy and 5 with my second. It definitely varies. And both my babies were a healthy weight.

I gained 50-60ish with my first but I was tiny starting out and had pre-eclampsia on top of it. I'm 31 wks and have only gained like 12 lbs so far but at least half of that has been in the last 3 weeks.
So I'm not sure if that's just bc i am in my third trimester or if the sudden rapid weight gain in an early indicator that I might start having complications again?
Also I definitly want the baby to be healthy but never lost all the baby weight from the previous pregnancy and I'm a little worried about gaining too much.

It depends on your pre pregnancy weight some women can gain 40, while others only 5. Your doctor should be able to tell you whats healthy for you

I'm almost 33 weeks. I gained 31 lbs and now losing a few due to Pre Eclampsia. Every woman is different and produces and different amount of blood and fluids for baby. :) but my doc said that the "goal" I 1 lb per week that you are. But that's an average and can DEFINITELY vary.

I've heard 35-40 pounds the entire pregnancy and 1-2 lbs per week in the third trimester. But every woman I've talked to have said that 35 lbs is unrealistic. I'm 33 weeks and have gained 43 pounds so far. Started at 140 now I'm 183. And I've been gaining 5-7 lbs every two weeks. My Dr doesn't seem concerned with my weight gain though.

I'm not sure about the weight during the third trimester. But the average weight gain during pregnancy is about 25-30lbs according to my doctor.
