Anytime you are taking medication, especially multiple medications, you must talk with your doctor about the risks or benefits.
Didn't you r dr tell you the risks???? You can look the manufacture up inline. It should have it labled on your bottle. Then call the 1-800# and ask what control they are and what level they are in. Ask if they pass to the uterus and waht the dangers are and if they pass through the breast milk.
You can also call the march of dimes which willhave studies on the other spectrum. You need your dr to write a letter to you stating why the risk of not taking them outweighs the benifit of taking them. If I said that right and for him to sign somthing that he has acknowledged your concerns for the baby! So if something went wrong you would have that! It is called true informed consent!
Yet off that thought I do know that lots of what you have can be controlled by toher means and the meds can give you side effects to make things worse. Also with the bipolar which is really a combination of the other stuff and that is really all you need to be diagnosed with! Bi polar is anxiety and depression and lots go years without or almost a lifetime without haveing manic eppisodes. But those extreem depression and manic are very unsafe for you to go off the meds and ltos of woman can not ahve babies while taking the meds. Lithium is common very unsafe! but handles all the things you are going through without taking so many meds. It treats both sides of the depression and manic and anxiety disorders. Also the meds will be different when you are pregnant and you have to be monitored almost daily if not weekly!!!! Your hormones will reak havoc on them and they need to be monitored well.
I hope you get some answers and are fully informed but you need real studies and professionals telling you those type of things. Anything I know would of come form a dr and they do not always tell you the whole truth. I wish you luck and sorry to hhear what you are going through! I know this should be a time of joy and not stress and I understand you feel you are putting your baby at risk and are so unsure. Ther are 1800 hotlines for biploar that you can call for just support too! I think you will need it for peace of mind! I will keep your situation in my thoughts that all goes well and you hear what you need to hear and make the best decision for you and the baby.
obviously they feel the benefits outweigh the risks...prozac is shown to be fairly safe, klonopin isn't great to take but I think as long as you're taking it as directed by an OB you should be alright...I don't know about trazadone. Tell your OB how much this concerns you, and s/he should be willing to discuss the risks and benefits...or you can ask a pharmacist. call the pharmacist and tell them your situation...often pharmacists are more in tune with meds, side effects, and risks than doctors are.
