when did you see your doctor?

Hello just wondering how long after you found out you were pregnant did it take to get in to see your family dr? I called my family Dr and he's booking appointments in a months time. I am almost 5 weeks pregnant and considered "high risk" because I have colitis. I wouldn't see him until 8 weeks. Is this a normal wait time for the first prenatal visit? (Haven't had blood work or anything yet) should I see if I can get in earlier?

Im from canada, and your doctor should only be doing the blood and urine sample to confirm the pregnancy. Than he should be referring you to an obgyn and they will be the ones who deal with you and your baby until your baby is born. At least in alberta thats how it is.

& I would think a doctor would want to monitor you right away if they thought u to be high risk,  no matter what the condition. But, hopefully all will be well on your next visit & you get to see your little peanut and here his or hers heartbeat.  Maybe that's why they had you wait.

Not in the US. We don't see our family doctor, we go to an ob/gyn. My first pregnancy I made an appt as soon as I found out I was pregnant @ 5weeks. Second time around, didn't know until I was about 13wks, and this time around I went in at 14 wks because I knew the drill already lol just take your prenatals really.

I am from Canada. I just know that since I have colitis and I am on medication they want to keep a close eye on me. I miscarried last year and I was right into see a Dr at 5 weeks so I am just getting anxious haha
