when should I ?

I have just found out on 12/24/07 that I am expecting. I was 11dpo and I am now 4weeks and 1 day. My AF was due on 12/25. So I am trying to figure out when I can go to the doctor to start my prenantal care.... ? See I knew I was pregnant with my first child because I had just had a miscarriage 3 months before and we were sure to be pregnant. But when I found out the health dept. turned me away and said something about my period I am not sure that was in April 2004. So I was wondering if anyone knew when I should schedule my appointment. I am taking prenatal vitamins and drinking plenty of water. I just dont want to be turned away again. The H.Dept is the only place that can me papers needed for insurance during pregnancy so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!
Thank You for reading my post!

You should call the center near you to make sure exactly what they do. Planned Parenthood's tests aren't free unless you meet certain guidelines (age, income, etc.). So just go to a non-profit crisis preg. center and they'll take care of you.

Thank  you for answering. I want to get started a.s.a.p. They turned me away the first time because my period wasnt late enough or something. They never even gave me a test I cant remember how far along I was by the time they did..... I know we have a pregnancy crisis center a few minutes from here would that be the same?

I was worried they would come up negative I have taken the e.p.t. , first response and the dollar store brand and all have come positive. But I am worried about everything right now!
Thank you again for helping me out!

Oh... I didn't read the part about insurance. Yeah, you have to get proof of pregnancy first. You can go to your doc and tell them you're getting MC+. Medicaid will cover you for 3 months prior to getting approved, so the pregnancy test and office visit will be covered.

So you can either do it that way, or you can go to Birthright, or any other preg. center in your area. They'll give you a preg. test and if it reads positive in their office, they'll give you an official document. www.birthright.org is where you can find a Birthright in your area. Or you can look up a center in your area by looking under Abortion/Abortion Alternatives in the yellow pages.

BTW, the tests that preg. centers use are a lot more sensitive than what you use at home. So don't be afraid it'll come up negative at their office.

You call the receptionist and they will ask when your LMP was, or how far along you are, then they will schedule you when your doctor starts prenatal care. Most doctors won't see you until you are 10 weeks pregnant.

If you had a progesterone prob. last time, then you need to let them know you'd like to have your levels tested to make sure everything looks good. You can do that without actually going to your doc. and the lab will send the results to your doctor.

what was the reason the health dep turned you down? just go there, ask for a pregncey test, tell them you need to try to get on medicaid. they should do it right then.
