how do babies 32+ tend to fare?

hi. i'm 32 weeks pregnant and at risk of going into labour too soon. i was bleeding badly with pains between 9 1/2 and 16 weeks and i lost my mucous plug over a few days starting at 31 weeks...with red blood in it. i know nothing about premature babies and any information from the 32 week plus stage would be greatly appreciated. i mean stuff like survival rates, possible problems for baby, telltale signs for a premature labour ( so i can get to hospital quick and try to stop it ) thanks guys.

Hi..I know that all babies are different, but wanted to let you know that my daughter is 5 years old and she was a 32weeker and is doing great! They say that babies born 30 weeks and beyond do really well. They are well trained in the NICU's and they have really good equipment to help the babies to breath. (Ventilators etc..) Good luck to you and kepe us updated!

Hi there ... my son were born 32weeks & 4 days, went into labour without knowing, went into labour @ 28 weeks lucky they could've stopped the contractions & baby stayed a bit longer ... Keathan (my son) was taken to NNICU directly after I gave birth he was in NeoNatal for 17 days, and is doing great, he is almost 8 months old, would never say he was a premature baby ...
The most severe problem usually is feeding & lungs, if you go in to the hospital early they will be able to give the baby steriods for the lungs & that could help a lot for the breathing if not, they go onto some O2 for a few days ... feeding usually comes a bit later but that also go fast till baby get's the hang of sucking .... I know it's hard but be strong & patient ....

hello, gosh that must be scary! My daughter was born at 33 weeks. She was born very healthy, 4 lbs. 11 ounces. No health problems. However since she was so small she was in the NICU for two weeks. Babies born 32 weeks or so are typically very small, but they almost always survive.  The biggest thing you'll have to worry about is he/she probably won't be able to eat on his own for a while since he hasn't quite developed the ability to suck yet. My daughter had to be on a feeding tube until she learned how to suck.
