9 Gleason Score

My dad is 56 years old and diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. It was found because he a hernia surgery and  His gleason score was 9 and psa was 130.  After 2 weeks of hormone pills his psa was 40 and we started taking the shots.  What would be the next best step for treatment options?

Sorry to hear about your dad. If cancer out of the prostate he will have to have hormone
blockage and also radiation treatments. Hormonal treatments alone can control the cancer
for many years. The radiation can also help control the spread. They have come along way
with keeping people alive with prostate cancer. They also are continuing to advance the control
of prostate cancer. I have heard of people passing the 10 year mark with just hormone treat-
ments. Good Luck. Best Wishes.
