Blood in Semen after Prostate Biopsy

How long, on the average, should I expect blood in my semen after having a prostate biopsy (the typical 12 needle biopsy). Does one need to ejaculate semen out periodically to get all the potential blood out? What are some suggestions regarding this?

I had it for a month. I did not get medical advice on the issue, but on my own used a condom when having sex during that time.
