High Gleason Score for Prostate Cancer

by alexpeto, Sep 30, 2009 08:41PM
My father is 68 y/o and was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9. Four out of the 12 biopsies came back negative so the four are concentrated in one area. The cancer has not spread according to the other tests. The PSA was 4.3. We are considering all options and we are leaning towards either cryoablation or robotic prostatectomy. Thoughts? Thanks much.

Sorry to hear about your dad.  I had prostate cancer 5 years ago and had Proton Radiation treatments at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda Calif.  I am find  PSA .07. Im a convinced Proton is the very best and most successful treatment today. It has a 90% cure rate and little to no side effects... I had no side effects and am cured.. It was like a 90 vacation in Calif.  Go to a website called Proton Bob and read the patient testimonials... dont let the doctors talk you into some other treatment until you find out about Proton.. Its the best.. If you want more info send me a post and ill email you.  good luck claytex

The stats for your dad aren't really that bad.  Proton isn't covered by insurance most of the time, it is the most expensive, and it is radiation.  All forms of radiation come with an increased risk of cancer later on, but, that would be in 10 years.  Seeds are probably what a doctor will recommend.  Cryoblation has very rare side effects, except it has a high ED rate, so if sex isn't important, cryo is a good option.

Another option is HIFU, it's ultrasound, it isn't approved yet, so your dad would need to go to Mexico, Puerto Vallarta,  Cancun or Canada to get treated. It's been practiced in all other developed countries for years.   It's a 2 hour treatment and all side effects are very rare, no hospital stay, ED is experienced 30% of the time, but it is temporary as the nerves weren't cut, when the gland shrunk the nerves were upset. It costs $25,000.

Too many side effect possibilities come with robotic or open surgery, in fact.robotic has a higher rate of incontinence and ED than open manual surgery.

or he can get HIFU in Nassau, Bahamas or Japan or Europe....anywhere but the USA!

BTW, Usually men from the USA book with an American doctors for treatment in Nassau and Mexico, they have been treating men with hifu for 5 or 6 years on the weekends, during the week my doc works at the NewYork Langone Medical Hospital, he is in charge of the ablation urology dept.  He went with his entire staff, which was an anesthisologist, certified mechanic to work the machine, and a nurse,  it's a very professional outfit.  He is Dr. Scionti and can be reached at 888-874-4384.  He is the doc who has taught all the American doctors HIFU.  He requires a complete blood panel and letter from your doctor saying you are good for surgery, plus all the tests from the biopsy.
Many good wishes.

DEar Alexpeto: Hifeud told you wrong.  Most insurances do cover proton plus your father would be on medicare and medicare covers it.  It is not the most expenseve either.  It is higher than some, but the reason most insurance companies cover it is that it has no side effects after the treatments and there fore they dont have to spend additional money treating side effects caused by surgery or regular surgery.  Proton is nothing like regular radiation..The treatment energy is very controlled and only effects the area being treated ..no surrounding tissue or organs are affected by it....  He does not know what he is talking about.  I have had it and know pretty well. It is the absolute best option if you father has prostate cancer.  It has no  to very little side effects and a 90 % cure rate... I dont know why any one would even want to consider any of the other options if they know about proton.. I feel like I am cured but was never sick ...not one single day and have -0- side effects.. every single body part works just like before.  My cousin had the implants he was speaking of and lost part of his bowel control as a result of the implants and now has a horrible  problem.,.. I feel really bad for him.  Just be sure you go to the Proton Bob site and check out former Proton patients for yourself .. you and your father should make the decision on what you can find out dont let others like me or the other guy tell you...dont even let the doctor telll you what treatment.. they will treat you the way they are trained...MOst will not recommend something they cant do themselves. thats the way they make thier living.sad but true  Main thing talk to others about thier treatments.have a good day
