Hi,
A sciatic nerve compression presenting as pain in the testicle is unlikely.
The spinal column along the back has 12 thoracic (upper back) and 5 lumbar (the lower back) vertebrae (you may imagine them as cylinders stacked one on top of the other) and nerves emerge per level.
Nerves to the groin generally emerge at the T10 (10th thoracic ) to L1 (1st lumbar). The sciatic nerve has several roots but the highest (from the perspective of the anatomy of a standing person) emerges much lower at L3.
The MRI is a good test to investigate problems with the spine, so if it came back normal, then you need to do some further investigation.
Thanks for the help, I was reading up and it said it could be a problem with the sciatic nerve being pinched. Could this be possible? I had an MRI so that rules out a spinal tumor but that was before the testicular pain.
Hi,
The best thing is to consult as soon as you can so that you can be examined.
Symmetry is not really the rule, many men have one testes larger than one, is lower than the other.
Most cancers are painless. So this is not likely - though it wouldn't be impossible.
Torsion if severe is an emergency - it will progress within hours, so I don't think this is what you have.
Offhand, you may need an evaluation for an hernia - the asymmetry may be due to a hernia - the pain may also be referred from somewhere else, not really coming from the testicle.
