PSA Drop after Diagnosis

My PSA in 2005 was 1.2; in 2007 1.8; in 2008 1.7.  My family Dr., having consulted w/ urologists between last 2 test, recommended urologist.  Urologist biopsied 3/2009.  Adenocarcinoma in 6 of 12 cores, Gleason of 3+4 in 5, 3+3 in 1.  Surface area varied between 5% and 70%; average 40%.  Perineural invasion in 2.  I have mostly eliminated meat & dairy and consume large amount of various recommended vegies, fruits, etc.  Also taking Metagenics supplements (for last month).  Had another PSA mid August and it has dropped to 1.4.  My question:  is it unlikely/possible/likely that the drop in my PSA indicates lessening of the cancer?

I had the robotical removal 6 months ago. My psa went from 3.2 six weeks before surgery, down to 2.5 a few days before. I think the needle biopsy drops the psa #. but it's not a factor in the cancer prognosis. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your information.  Did you then have a prostatectomy (or radiation), if I may ask?  Have you heard reports of drops similar to mine from doctors?

your psa dropped from 1.8 down to 1.4 after the needle biopsy. Thats 20% + or minus. I'm not surprised because mine #s did the same thing. It's usually the case I hear and makes no diff with the cancer prognosis. Good Luck with everthing.
