Uti's after prostatectomy

My husband had  the da Vinci procedure to remove his prostate. He 's 52 yrs old. Ever since the surgey which was in july  2007, he's been getting UTI's 3 so far. the last one he had a 102.6 temp and was shivering uncontrollably, w/ blood in urine. . My question: are the UTI's related to the prostate removal?. In the 28 yrs I've been with him he has had only one UTI.  It seems strange that he would have three in the last 3 1/2 months since surgery.
thank you,

UTIs usually occur in the early postoperative period for prostatectomies but are generally infrequent after discharge. However, the development of a stricture may account for stasis which may contribute to the development of infection. About 15% of patients report strictures within the first year from treatment. There is also a remote possibility  that the fever and blood in the urine may be unrelated, that there may be an infection elsewhere. Perhaps a visit to your urologist is paramount then your GP if the infection is deemed to be elsewhere.
