Hi,

If the doctor says it doesn’t seem cancerous, then this is likely within the spectrum of normal variation. The bump may only represent benign prostatic growth, symmetry isn’t always the rule, so bumps may be expected. That the PSA was normal would support a benign consideration.

Keep with your follow-up and discuss the testing being done with your doctor. There are some men on this forum who start to learn about the testing only when more invasive testing is recommended. From the start it would be better to discuss theses matters as the screening for prostate cancer is an option. This is because unlike screening tests for breast cancer and cervix cancer, the screening improved survival. This hasn’t been clearly shown for prostate – but the screening would allow men to be in a better position to make decisions about their treatment options.
