My boyfriend had the "seed" implant 2 years ago & his last PSA was 6.5. Why can't he have the prostrate removed? He is scheduled for both bone scan & and CT to see if it has spread.

He cannot have surgery after any form of radiation treatment, I think it's fear of spreading the tissue, especially being the radiation failed.

If you live in the NY area there is a free clinical trial at NYU Langone Medical center for failed radiation treatments, read about it here:  http://urology.med.nyu.edu/conditions-we-treat/prostate-cancer/treatment/hifu

This is not only free but it's the best option out there. There are other hospitals involved in the same trial, but this one is the best, call them to talk about it or to find a trial near you.  646-744-1505

My "boyfriend" is now my husband. Both his Bone scan & CT for soft tissue were Negative!!   A biopsy is planned next week. What affects will "freezing" the prostrate be...

That's fantastic--that the results were negative!

Freezing?  What do you mean?  Freezing is cryosurgery for prostate cancer.

Yes, Cryosurgery..what to know side affects & odds it will take stop the cancer. I checked the website you gave but it didn't answer these questions. Thanksfor your support!

Cryosurgery will stop the cancer, but it is a highly skilled procedure, impotence happens about 75% of the time, I don't know if Cialis works (Cialis doesn't work after surgery, but it does work after HIFU).  I'm guessing that Cialis will work after cryosurgery, as nothing gets cut.  Incontinence is not an issue (less than 2%).

Cryosurgery and ultrasound (HIFU) do the same thing--they target the gland without cutting anything, cryo freezes while HIFU cooks the gland.  go to cryocarecenter.com for more info.  Reuters news agency recently published that he is the most experienced cryosurgeon.

Are you really in college?  You've never posted your husband's age....to most likely be left impotent at a young age doesn't sound good to me.  Did you call that clinical trial that I gave you the number for for HIFU after radiation?  You really need to check into this, as the odds of being impotent are less than 1% if he goes HIFU.  646-744-1505
