Hi. Have yourself rechecked by your doctor just to rule out the possibility of radiation proctitis, which is inflammation of the mucosal lining of the rectum due to radiation. The burning sensation you're experiencing may be an early sign. If it turns out that you have this condition, steroids and sucralfate enemas can help.
Hi again,
I should have mentioned a product i used briefly to treat a hemorrhoid i developed after my surgery. It is a topical analgesic product called Nupercainal. Is is a dibucaine ointment. If you are not allergic to "caine" products, you might want to try it. One caveat--it is not intended for internal use and states plainly in the instructions NOT to insert the ointment inside the anus. It brought instant relief to my hemorrhoid pain and might help with your burning.
Prior to my pc surgery in October, I took flomax from June through the first parf of August. I had no such symptoms. Flomax is for urinary flow and has nothing to do with the rectum. From all my research prior to my surgery, I learned that what you are experiencing can be a byproduct of your seeding/radiation and is "normal" for your treatment. Hopefully some of the men who have had the same type of treatment can help you with advice. The stool softener is a good idea, but I suggest calling your doctor to get a better explanation of the burning and determine if he/she can prescribe something to alleviate it.
